If Emil is out for some time and they don't want to disrupt Laval, I'd be down for adding a cheap winger on waivers or trade. I don't want to see Pezz dressed just to play 5 minutes. It doesn't help him or the team.
We'll be ok

Emil's 4 weeks initial prognosis will end and coincides with the beginning of the 4 Nations tourney
So he will be getting an extra 2 weeks to heal/Rev up
And we should see him when we come back February 22nd

9 games in 18 days is the problem and 9 potential season determining games at that.

There's almost a zero percent chance he re-signs with the habs. They'd probably want to do as you said but Armis is probably thinking that this is the last big contract he can get at the age of 32. He could probably get 4x4 at the very least on the open market which is more than the habs should even think about potentially giving him
This is what people aren't understanding about the Armia situation lol

You don't GET the 'big contract(for him)' from Bergevin after the Cup run

NOT live up to it (for the most part)

Get sent down to the AHL twice last season

Nobody trades for you at last years TDL

And THEN get a raise...
Doesn't work like that lol

Armia can be had for something like 2yrs x 2.5M, and he is most likely back for a couple more years as we're on the upswing from the bad times

(Coincidentally, most of what I just said can apply to Laine too btw, he GETS the 8.7M yr contract and it's 3 years later, and you can argue 'hasn't lived up to it', but we also know for so and so and so reasons, there is TOTALLY a universe where Laines next contract is under 8.7M/yr but people have a hard time understanding the actual contexts of these things)

Yup
Odds are they will call up another more 'bottom 6' fitting guy or even Beck again himself

They are clearly at a point they'd rather NOT play Pezzetta

And if 'WE're' aware most of these upcoming games a huge
*They* do as well

Evans is the 3rd line center.

At one point you have to give young players games. Having Beck or Kapenen centering Gallagher and Anderson on a 4th line next year is actually ideal. Make no mistake Gallagher will be 33 next year and Anderson 31. Those two guys are not going to make a good 3rd line moving forward they will be the 4th line until their contract runs out. Evans, Heineman and Newhook (who will be pushed down by Demidov) will be the 3rd line.

Bringing in a kid in the NHL on a 4th line with two vets is an ideal situation imo. If Both Beck and Kapanen doesn't work you can make a rental move later in the season for a vet 4th line center. It's not like a struggling 4th line center for half a year will push us out of the playoffs. If it does then the team ain't good.

If you look at the dominating teams they are constantly bringing in kids. Either because of a lack of cap space to extend vets or because vets are getting too old. And the teams who fail to do that (Pens, Avs lately) will eventually falter. Why did the Bruins stays relevant for so long. Because of Carlo, MacAvoy, Pasternak, Sawyman, ... why are they struglling right now? Because they have nobody to replace Bergeron, Krejci and soon Marchand. Why Caps are still relevant? Because of Protas, McMicheal, Sandin.
I agree with your Bruins and Cap example. All depends of the quality teams have in hands to replace their vet. So you think Beck is ready to replace Dvorak if he leave at the tdl? Maybe, but it's a bit risky, Who is 100% sure he can fill the spot? His production in ahl shows a dominant player who can make the step into nhl?

Evans being a 3rd or 4th center is semantic, both lines have about the same ice time. Anderson paid 5,5, Gally 6,5 and Dvo 4,5, that makes a 16,5 m 4th line. Like some quebecers might say : "astie ça fa dur". That's a lot of f** money, we should expect a 2nd line at this price and a production of pts. Lately they play ok but I want more and more. I have high standards, that's me.

Laval also with a very heavy schedule and lots of injuries. I'm not sure how easy it will be to rotate players in and out. I'm not too keen on using a kid B2B2B.

Anytime we can stick it to that obnoxious pouting prima donna Doucherov is a great night. What a glorious victory!! Can't wait until we pass them in the standings ;)

Beck don't think yet. But Kapanen will be 22 next season which is just one year younger than Protas and McMicheal were at the beginning of the year. He got lot of pro experience in Europe too. Not sure if the SHL is a bit better or a bit worse than the AHL but it's probably not too far off. He had a good rookie camp and looked good the first two games of the camp. I think with one more year of exp he'll be more ready he knows what to do now.

I think having Kapanen on the 4th line again next season (like at the beginning of this year) to see what we got would not be terrible at all. If it doesn't work you can send him in the AHL close to the deadline and acquire a 4th line center rental (they are usually cheap i think Torrey Mitchell cost was a 7th round pick).

Then you can try again the following year with 23 years old Kapenen or 22 years old Beck. I believe in both kid i think one of them at least will develop into a solid bottom 6 center before the age of 24. Yes Dvorak's line play only about 1 minutes less than Evans but it's still technically by TOI the 4th line. Yes salary wise it's hum .... kind of pathetic ... Hintz, Robertson and Wyatt Johnson are paid 17.094 combined. Yikkies. But it's just one more argument to bring in a kid on the line XD
