I don't know if Beck will develop as a top 6 player or a quality bottom 6 player. But the undervaluation of this prospect on this board is crazy imo. The fact some fans want to extend everyone and let Beck rot in the AHL for 4 years is crazy.

I want Beck to earn his spot on the team. He had an opportunity here and showed that he's still green. We've already seen what happens if you give too much to the kids too soon. Laine and Carrier stabilized everything massively.

Can't just let Evans walk out the door and have Beck and Kapanen be your bottom 6 centers unless you want to take a massive step back and clearly they don't want to do that.

Who has said that? Dvo out, Beck in. Tricky part is how to make room for Demidov. Gally should be the guy to go but we haven't seen management make a tough move like that so far.

He wins most face offs (the only left handed center), has wheels, his line has had chemistry all year… He won’t be driving offense and will probably not be back but I feel « horrendous » is a bit much. Team needs a lefty centerman if it’s not him. I like Newhook better on the wing, he has no finish but can fly and is really hard on the puck, sets the pace more than if he were at center.
What is the point of winning a faceoff if you just turn the puck over right after? People overrate it.

And what wheels? I’ve never seen him skate hard.

I swear people are clouding themselves because the team is winning. He’s awful. Gallagher too. Anderson is the only player worthwhile on that line.

The days of patience with prospects will start to decrease at a rapid rate as expectations for the NHL team win continues to ramp up

The dichotomy of NHL team success..
It should not. The only way to sustain a winning env long term is to draft well, develop well and rotate old players and/or players who ask for too much. That's what Dallas does. On average a NHL career last 9 years or something like that i think. It's way too common on this board for people to think all players can still be effective at 35. Most are not. Mike Richards retired at 30, Backstrom last top 6 quality season was at 33. Toews last top 6 quality season was at 31. The list is very long. A team should always be very very cautious when siging players getting close to 35 or extending 30ish player into their mid 30ies.

Petteri Nokelainen was winnign faceoffs too ;)

Dvorak has good speed. Hey I sound like I like the player; I just feel he’s made out to be a worse player than he is. Someone better needs to step up, no more learning on the job, that’s over and done.

I find Gally is having a good season with short shifts and smart plays. He predictably moves the puck forward, and brings it deep. Good example for everyone. Again, grab his spot kids, force the org no more hand outs.

Gallagher to start the season sure. But right now he’s just a liability. If you just want a player to play North-south, put the puck deep, pay someone league minimum for it. Not $6.5’m per year.

There's a few players who deserve a call up, so i wonder if they're bringing them up for a game, or two to show their hardworking is being recognized.

Or they're just putting Pezzetta back in
I'd personally love to see what Davidson can do before being swallowed up by the depth next year.

I doubt they'll want to run Pezz for 2 more weeks

Beck got some games and was probably shocked by the difference in the level of the NHL over the AHL which is fine. He didn't stand out in a good or a bad way.

Now that the Habs are truly "in the mix" we need a better option as a 13th forward, I don't know if ABB is the guy but I would like to see one of the bigger physical guys get the call.

If we pay Evans and judge him on offensive output we are very likely to be disappointed. If we judge him for playing winning hockey and holding a key role on the team then his value looks higher, regardless of whether he has an unsustainable shooting %.

To me, the only thing that would make an Evans contract a true disaster is if it made him a negative asset or untradable.
He is an important piece of this team and brings a lot to the table.

Well if Evans want to get paid for the offense he produced this year, but then regresses to what he was before, then thats a problem for the habs. Anderson and Gallagher are already heavily overpaid in our bottom 6, so adding another bad contract is a problem especially when you consider that both Laine and Hutson will need a new big contract in 1 year.

...now that he just concentrates on being good defensively and using his size properly, he's been great...what I'm worried about is old Army habits coming back (like playing like garbage when he's not playing for a contract)...

There's reason to be skeptical that armia found the code to consistency this late into his career, but the one thing I will say is that his play of consistency has been more solidified over the last couple seasons which just happen to be two of his healthier seasons.

He's an asset but his right chair is in the bottom two lines. His hands don't appear to be as smooth as they once were but he's been a bull during this run of consistency.

I think he would get paid for a bunch of things that he does whether his offensive statistics are sustainable or not. Make no mistake, he will have no shortage of offers if he hits the market. He will be coveted.

And if the habs do lose him, they need to find a replacement, regardless. There is nobody ready internally to step right into Jake's shoes for next year.

If Emil is out for some time and they don't want to disrupt Laval, I'd be down for adding a cheap winger on waivers or trade. I don't want to see Pezz dressed just to play 5 minutes. It doesn't help him or the team.

Which is why if he's extended it should be a prove me you figured it out 1 year contract like Drouin just signed with the Avs despite a 50 points seasons last year. Anymore than that and we should pass.

There's almost a zero percent chance he re-signs with the habs. They'd probably want to do as you said but Armis is probably thinking that this is the last big contract he can get at the age of 32. He could probably get 4x4 at the very least on the open market which is more than the habs should even think about potentially giving him
