Nobody knows that.
The point is you can't count on him to take Dvorak's or Evans' spots next year. It would be great but it's very unlikely.

Yeah he's not likely to improve one iota between now and then. The point is you can't count on him to take Dvorak's or Evans' spots next year. It would be great but it's very unlikely.
I wish more posts were like this. Bobrov definitely had some unjustified detractors early on. I'm glad to see some of his picks are panning out.Hey Guys, your posts reminded me I need to apologize to Bobrov (and maybe Lapointe). I was skeptical of Bobrov's hire. Damn it, he taught me a lesson. I need to keep my two cents to myself. They have done some fine, fine drafting.
Beck undoubtedly will, but the Habs won’t be as willing to accept natural growing pains w key roles which they did w Slaf etc.Yeah he's not likely to improve one iota between now and then.
I doubt more than three of those will be options, and two of those three will end up being expensive in short order. We have lots of cheaper options coming (Demidov, Hage, Beck, Kapanen, Mailloux, Engstrom, Roy). The timeline of when the vets expire fits the development time of the cheaper options that filter in with ELC/Bridge deals.
We do not have to move vets out.
I'm fairly certain Owen Beck can replace what Dvorak brings to the table by next season.Beck undoubtedly will, but the Habs won’t be as good liking to accept natural growing pains w key roles which they did w Slaf etc.
It’s too early to say anything about HuGo era drafts - need minimum 5-years before even thinking of passing judgement & 10years before we know the result of those picksI wish more posts were like this. Bobrov definitely had some unjustified detractors early on. I'm glad to see some of his picks are panning out.
I wouldn’t be so sure… that’s the issue. Dvorak is as close to a guarantee, U20 prospects who haven’t dominated on world stage WJC / WC / Olympics are unknowns - they are even if they dominate in those tournamentsI'm fairly certain Owen Beck can replace what Dvorak brings to the table by next season.
I know all this however fans were ready to crucify Bobrov after the 2022 draft without seeing none of them play. We had such poor drafting prior that some were being a bit too eager to throw him in the same mold as the previous administration and just overall being unreasonable. It’s too early to say anything about HuGo era drafts - need minimum 5-years before even thinking of passing judgement & 10years before we know the result of those picks
I'm not sure what you expect Owen Beck to do? He helped lead Peterborough to an OHL Championship and a Memorial Cup berth in 2022/23 He helped lead Saginaw to a Memorial Cup Championship in 23/24 winning MVP He played two years with Team Canada and was excellent in the role they gave him. He graduated to the Pros becoming arguably Laval's most complete forward as a rookie earning himself a call up with the Habs in 24/25. There is absolutely no reason not to graduate him next season if he's ready. He will not cost us games and that's what they like most about him. I think it's very important to integrate as many kids as we can as we work towards our goal. It’s too early to say anything about HuGo era drafts - need minimum 5-years before even thinking of passing judgement & 10years before we know the result of those picks

This was a special game, Slaf had 4 shots out of team's 22, the most of any player. He was flying, I don’t recall seeing him standing tall all game. Kid even shot the puck lol.
Slaf would still go down as a “miss” at 1OA. 2007 was a great Timmins draft but his collective drafting track record was poor.I know all this however fans were ready to crucify Bobrov after the 2022 draft without seeing none of them play. What is Dvorak a guarantee of other than being a horrendous player?I wouldn’t be so sure… that’s the issue. Dvorak is as close to a guarantee, U20 prospects who haven’t dominated on world stage WJC / WC / Olympics are unknowns - they are even if they dominate in those tournaments
Faceoffs, very effective on a much improved PK, and that 3rd line has dominated the opposition 90% of the games since start of the season. Also Caufield’s roommate and BFF… there’s a chemistry factorWhat is Dvorak a guarantee of other than being a horrendous player?
I’d rather a rookie make a mistake because they are young rather than a veteran making a mistake because he’s stupid and has no talent.
Beck back in Laval like I projected earlier in this thread. I'm not sure what we do against Detroit but Beck won't be coming back for another B2B2B that is for sure. Davidson or Tuch if we recall anyone. For the people finding Beck timid out there, he looks a lot like Heineman in his first call up. Patience is key but I don't think he's NHL ready yet. If he doesn't show an extra gear by next week I'd give Davidson a try
Tuch. I want some bang.Beck back in Laval like I projected earlier in this thread. I'm not sure what we do against Detroit but Beck won't be coming back for another B2B2B that is for sure. Davidson or Tuch if we recall anyone.
He wins most face offs (the only left handed center), has wheels, his line has had chemistry all year… He won’t be driving offense and will probably not be back but I feel « horrendous » is a bit much. Team needs a lefty centerman if it’s not him. I like Newhook better on the wing, he has no finish but can fly and is really hard on the puck, sets the pace more than if he were at center. What is Dvorak a guarantee of other than being a horrendous player?

The days of patience with prospects will start to decrease at a rapid rate as expectations for the NHL team win continues to ramp upFor the people finding Beck timid out there, he looks a lot like Heineman in his first call up. Nah, Dvo is horrendousHe wins most face offs (the only left handed center), has wheels, his line has had chemistry all year… He won’t be driving offense and will probably not be back but I feel « horrendous » is a bit much. I don't know if Beck will develop as a top 6 player or a quality bottom 6 player. But the undervaluation of this prospect on this board is crazy imo. The fact some fans want to extend everyone and let Beck rot in the AHL for 4 years is crazy.I'm not sure what you expect Owen Beck to do? That line is not dominating. They have a 51.4% CF which is basically average. Christ they were at 18.2% last night. They’ve been murdered by xGA this month.Faceoffs, very effective on a much improved PK, and that 3rd line has dominated the opposition 90% of the games since start of the season. Also Caufield’s roommate and BFF… there’s a chemistry factor
There’s more to building a hockey team than G, A and Pts
Depends on their role. If Beck is playing like he has in a bottom 6 role and people are bitching, it's on them. The days of patience with prospects will start to decrease at a rapid rate as expectations for the NHL team win continues to ramp up
The dichotomy of NHL team success..
Dichotomy of NHL team success = we can’t afford to develop prospects at NHL
