He is done like dinner. Stick a fork in him.

Yup, great start to the season but he's far from that now.

He's all effort, I will never question his desire or heart, but he's huffing and puffing after like his second shift. He very rarely positively affects the game anymore.

Can't believe that Habs have drafted Slaf and Hutson in 2022 draft. That's master move by the new management.

So will Demidov and Hage imho.

And maybe Reinbacher and Fowler too!! Hehe!!
Hey Guys, your posts reminded me I need to apologize to Bobrov (and maybe Lapointe). I was skeptical of Bobrov's hire. Damn it, he taught me a lesson. I need to keep my two cents to myself. They have done some fine, fine drafting.

Yup, there's nothing more exciting than being defibrillated after cardiac arrest.

Seriously, I'm loving the results, but how many near-death comebacks can this team have? The Habs have turned me into a raving lunatic, yelling, fist-pumping, slamming my coffee table, even going as far as posting on crazy message boards.
You got a camera in my livingroom, don't you?

Yup, Big fan of Gallagher in his 20's but that 30+ contract was a big mistake. You don't extend guys with average skating or worse in their 30+ years. He's getting smothered out there because his skating sucks. Still surviving the best he can I guess

Let him expire like we did with Drouin. It's all we can do

I remember citing this quote when he signed that contract.....

I like how one of the Habs players put his stick out for Savard to use as leverage to pressure the puck under him. LOL Now thats teamwork!!
The best play Savard made was grabbing Kucherov's stick so he would not be the player to burn us. Risking a penalty but with so little time left Veteran move.

I was not a fan of the "blocking" narrative we had during our rebuild. Obsessively wanting to trade out vets to insert youth learning on the job. I love how we assembled a very solid pool but we should not be rushing them so it makes us feel better at penciling them in the roster. Let them earn their way up through competition. Find out who they are from age 20-23. Manage the RFA and waiver exempt years well.

Dvorak and Savard are gone yes. Gallagher is the anchor contract. Anderson is actually not on a bad contract now that the cap will increase to $92M+ next year... I guess that is basically how his contract was set up. Evans and Armia are solid parts to our team and they are not easily replaced.

Bottom end vets should always be looked at as replaceable with younger cheaper options, that is how you make top end players affordable. I would start looking at moving assets, both vets and picks into further in the future picks, 26, 27, 28 etc. We will be moving down the draft list and will need players that can slot in to play the cheaper bottom end role (young cheap contracts). The only thing I would be looking for now is high end RD's. This all has to be affordable when we become contenders.

Its time, sign Jake Evans.

3.5M for 4 years if he'd accept thst.

If Armia want to stay, 2 X 3M.
No it's not. HuGo may want to see if these guys can get us into the post season and then make his future decisions based on how they perform. I'm starting to think the smartest move is to do nothing. I doubt HuGo would be worried about losing Jake or Armia they can always work ways to sign and trade if they deem the AAV's and Terms aren't to their liking.

We have lots of cheaper options coming (Demidov, Hage, Beck, Kapanen, Mailloux, Engstrom, Roy). The timeline of when the vets expire fits the development time of the cheaper options that filter in with ELC/Bridge deals.

We do not have to move vets out.

Each of these events statistically accelerated the win rate:
1- Laine arrival
2- Carrier arrival
3- Dobes arrival

But there’s two background events that happened
1- One offensive: Hutson on the first PP
2- One defensive: they finally can successfully do the hybrid system
Moving Guhle back to his natural position and Wifi maturing also.

No it's not if we sign these players it will be at or very close to the deadline. Kent Hughes will already know what it's going to cost to get a deal done and will act according to our needs at tat time.

I believe I have heard Hughes say Evans and his agent need to lower their expectations if he wants to stay. If Hughes feels that we have a high chance of loosing Evans, don't be surprised if he searches for someone who has 2 or 3 year left at the TDL and trades for them while he takes the late 1st for an Evans trade.

Is there someone out there with 2 or 3 years left that fits? Hate to see Evans go but if he is asking 5x $5M, we can't do that.

Watching Beck play and they have pretty much no choice but to keep Evans or make sure they have a plan B they can execute on. This team will take a step back without Evans or an equivalent on the roster.

Seeing Beck play a minor role on the wing doesn't tell us anything other than Marty likes him better than Pezz at this point.

Which has nothing to do with when we sign Jake Evans. I'm saying I don't see a great rush to get it done. What's to say he doesn't have a different irons in the fire? I'm sure Hughes will leave all his options open including getting a better player than Evans as a 2C who can also PK. He may also re-sign him at TDL like Bergevin did with Byron hoping for a bump. I'm confident enough to believe Hughes won't lose assets for nothing just like he won't over-pay a role player.
