Super nice game by the Habs, feels like they needed the break and were back to how the game was on the hot streak
M Tkachuk's highest hit total is 151 in a season. Slaf had that many last year alone and has 128 this year. Not the one asked, but if I had to name some power forward who can produce, the Tkachuk brothers, Ovechkin, Wilson.
Tkachuk bros, Marchand, Gallagher… all very consistent in how they play. Can you name me 4 who are active?
I thought Florian Xhekaj was the only unicorn. What a game by Slaf. If it really all just clicked in his head and he starts playing like this every night, it really changes the trajectory of his development to unicorn status imo.
Not to get to ahead but imagine having 3 unicorns on one team in Slaf, Demidov, and Hutson.
Watching this team in its prime will be something else man.
Nailed it.I don’t expect a scrap every game. I don’t expect a goal every game.
I do expect that kind of effort every game. Gallagher gave it for ten years. The Tkachuk bros do it every night. I don’t see why Slaf can’t.
You have to show up every game.
Almost an impossibility.5 points is hard enough.... but there's also 5 teams to jump over and the team below them is right at their neck too.
Not all hits are created equal and nobody would confuse Slaf for a power forward even if he had the most recorded hits in the NHL. It's not his game.M Tkachuk's highest hit total is 151 in a season. Slaf had that many last year alone and has 128 this year.
Ovechkin has toned down the hitting. Most hits in the last bunch of seasons is 223 in 2018-2019.
Wilson and Brady are really the only ones who've been doing it night in night out in last 5-7 years.
That 2018 draft though....Tkachuk bros, Marchand, Gallagher… all very consistent in how they play.
Hilarious on how many of our fans were in their barn!! And definitely made the most noise.
Slaf, is on his way.....he is the least of our worries. Not all hits are created equal and nobody would confuse Slaf for a power forward even if he had the most recorded hits in the NHL. It's not his game.
The last few years diving is probably worse playing the habs. Teams must know by now they barely have to sell it.Hilarious on how many of our fans were in their barn!! And definitely made the most noise.
The Sens only got back in the game in the 1st because of bad call on a dive.........other than that moment they never were in the game, and the habs had control for almost the entire game.
Man the Turds love to dive.........absolutely brutal team of divers.
He never was a speed merchant tho (Suzuki). Don’t know how his weight affect his game but 207 for a 5’11 is quite heavy for a hockey player. Maybe he could get faster but he does have a heavy shot and tough to move.
You shouldn’t even bother. I mean who comes in the PGT after that specific game and says Slaf will never be a power forward. It’s beyond hating now.Slaf, is on his way.....he is the least of our worries.
The kid is constantly working on being better....his physical game is a work in progress, he can pass the puck and now has to learn to shoot more.
Oh, and he is still only 20 years old.....things are going very well albeit a little slower than we would all like.....habs fans are not known for their patience.
Yup I did the same exercise earlier in the slaf thread , nobody can name 4 that put up more than 50-60 pointsM Tkachuk's highest hit total is 151 in a season. Slaf had that many last year alone and has 128 this year.

It’s because Power forwards are unicorns: they don’t exist.Yup I did the same exercise earlier in the slaf thread , nobody can name 4 that put up more than 50-60 points![]()

Quads are the heaviest muscles in the body. If the legs are strong and muscular, speed shouldn't be an issue, IMO.Suzuki has the pro athlete version of my frame. At 5'10 if I drop below 195-200 it looks unhealthy, he can't get much slimmer and be effective for his play style.
He's just thick, it's kinda like crosby and is what allows him to be effective below the goal line despite being smaller in terms of height.
What’s your point? Not all hits are created equal and nobody would confuse Slaf for a power forward even if he had the most recorded hits in the NHL. It's not his game.
What a shock to many here that a power forward (let alone any hockey player) can still learn and improve at 20Looked like the type of player they envisioned when they drafted him
When I was 35, my girlfriend and I met an awesome older unicornI thought Florian Xhekaj was the only unicorn.
Define power forward. It’s because Power forwards are unicorns: they don’t exist.
It’s too taxing to make pay hard forechecking hockey 82+ games a year.
Matthew Tkachuk is definitely a powerfoward in my book. I wouldn't use 151 total hit in a season as an argument against that. He can hit hard, can fights, he produce and is a pest. He just brings intensity to the game you typically see from a powerforward.M Tkachuk's highest hit total is 151 in a season. Slaf had that many last year alone and has 128 this year.
Ovechkin has toned down the hitting. Most hits in the last bunch of seasons is 223 in 2018-2019.
