Habs Defeat Isles in OT in Laines Debut

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I thought Slaf and Dach looked a bit better last night, maybe a bit more engaged. I would like to see them remain on the same line for a few games. Perhaps having Laine be the line driver might take some pressure off of both Dach and Slaf, which might help their confidence. I am really looking forward to tomorrow's game.

Slaf in particular was way more involved physically. Laine though, man did he look like a play driver despite missing so much time. His work on the PP was art. We need another guy with that kind of skill.

Caufield is not too shabby.

And Demidov is on his way.

100% agree with your post. Our first line is not nearly dominant enough to have a mediocre 2nd line. I know we only played the Islanders, but you can clearly see the talent Laine has and the effect he had on the lineup. GHG!

Hahaha you are right , but there was a couple of plays were showing a less then relaxed demeanor might have been benificial .
Though I accept that he is like that and it has some negative but many positive
It has negative and positive, just like any demeanour indeed

I find it annoying when fans (usually driven by media) equate not having an ebullient attitude with not having heart though. Suzuki seems to be doing fine as captain, but will think he has no heart because he won't fight anyone.

Newhook was pretty good when he came back from his injury last season. A guy cannot forget how to play over a Summer. He is more at ease at centre. And Laine and Dach need his speed. Call them 2nd line or 3rd line, I don’t care.
Based on his young NHL career, he has not been productive, definitely not first or second line worthy.
