Post-Game Talk: Habs blow it against the Islanders in OT

Laine needs to step up and contribute like Alex Newhook does haha.
I 'm glad Newhook is at least getting chances. Hopefully, unlike Amderson, he'll be able to develop a scoring touch in a bottom six role.

As for Laine, just really looking forward to seeing him with Demidov and next year's 2c.

I didn’t like the way Suzuki played the 2 on 1. I know you tend to give the goalie the shooter, but I felt he could’ve played it a bit better. Nice comeback for a point at least.
Monty has GOT to be better. He’s let in probably 4 weak goals in the last 2. It’ll be interesting to see if they throw Dobes to the wolves on Saturday or come back with Monty.
Dobes matches up better against the avs than Montembault. Lots of skill on Colorado and I like Dobes athleticism better for that.

Monty needs a break anyways

I honestly don’t get the radical hate for Sam. He was picked up on waivers, Is not only a stop gap goalie on rebuilding team but has an obvious replacement in the shadows in Fowler. He was ment to take the punches while this organization figures things out. We are in the hunt for the playoffs with him taking a #1 role. Tbh I respect his hockey but that might be just me
Nothing wrong with pointing out that he had a couple really bad games while still respecting his contributions overall. Monty, for the most part has been part of the solution, not the problem, but he did let some stinkers in in back to back games. He’s played a lot of hockey and could probably use a day off. That doesn’t mean I don’t respect him, I’m stating the obvious.

Yeah, sam seems like a top notch person who is easy to cheer for.

But in the context of the playoff hunt, the Habs can't afford their goalie to suddenly become unreliable. He's had two games in a row now where he's struggled, and considering how he was faltering prior to the 4 nations should at least cause a little bit of concern.

I guess the good news is that the habs still managed 3 points in those 4 games regardless, but its not sustainable to keep pushing if the goaltending stays that way.
