After his first game, Dobes said, The Habs are the best organization in the world, and I just want to contribute. It doesn't matter if he was right or wrong about the best in the world. What matters is that he believed it and wanted to add to the reputation. Not the same can be said for opposing goalies, many have crumbled when playing against the Habs in Montreal, I've seen it many times.
We have always been good at finding goalies most of whom are not the same once they leave the organization. I don't know if it is the inspiration of playing for a franchise that has housed so many greats but it definitely is something.
Fowler has the pedigree to be a great goalie but he hasn't proven anything yet.Him and Fowler should be the 1-2 punch in the not so distant future. Both will be better than Monty imo.
I sure hope you are right and that he starts playing like a #1 pick. I can imagine this team with he, Laine, and Dach all healthy and all playing up to their abilities…..wow, this could be a very fun year indeed. Just don’t trade away guys who are performing nicely like Matheson, Evans, and Armia. We need them all if we want to make a push this year. More draft choices won’t help us for many years, if they even help at all. No guarantee….but we do know what we have in our guys currently playing on the team.He seems to get in his own head. Happens to young and old players. I don't think it's so much that he regressed and more he's trying to find his place when the team is playing well. I wouldn't be surprised if one game it all just clicks for him again.
Pezz and Struble in means a lot of minutes for Suzuki and Matheson. Not ideal down the stretch when we will need fresh legs in March-April...This team has looked different missing Laine and Savard. Crazy how that sounds! I can't wait till those two come back and see what this team does. Struble and Pezetta are not cutting it. Look for a Dach finding his stride, and Slaf (I hope) connecting the dots, and a Newhook rejuvenating.
I hope us mortals will not be harmed by his arrruving. With these Russian gods you never can tell. They're getting there. Next year the Demigod arrruves!
I have also seen Dobes in person in Laval and was impressed every time. That being said, in his 3 starts ( including the pre season game vs Toronto) he has looked even better playing against the top NHL talented teams than in the AHL.I'm already on record saying Dobes > Monty.
I came to that conclusion watching him shut teams down in Laval particularly in tight chances.
His physical attributes are just better as is his base and the dude has great reflexes.
Monty has 2-3 good games, and then lays an egg almost every time..........we have been trounced a few times this year, and he has been the guy in nets.I'm already on record saying Dobes > Monty.

Dobes should play plenty of games in the 2nd half of January, Habs play a game every other day in the last 2 weeks. There is also another b2b next weekend. Hopefully, Dobes gets the Caps to continues his recent champion cup run. They will be splitting games similar to what the Bruins did with Ullmark and Swayman unless one craps the bed.
They expect Monty will be sharper with more rest and Dobes HAS to play at least every other game.
5vs4. The puck was deflected in with Rantanen’s skate.I watched the game late. Did Rantanen goal scored on 5-4 or 5-3 PP?
At this rate, he'll get to the point where he needs to face the Habs to continue his streakDobes should play plenty of games in the 2nd half of January, Habs play a game every other day in the last 2 weeks. Why not. His countryman, Dominik Hasek, wore no. 39 for the majority of his career and had his jersey retired with that number by the Sabres.I have bad news for you. He’s had an ugly jersey number everywhere he’s gone. Would you prefer he goes back to the number 44 he wore in College? Lol
He can wear any Damn Jersey number he wants stopping pucks like that. It's a tad cocky and I love it.I have bad news for you. He’s had an ugly jersey number everywhere he’s gone. Would you prefer he goes back to the number 44 he wore in College? Lol
So don't celebrate. Meanwhile I will.I have also seen Dobes in person in Laval and was impressed every time. That being said, in his 3 starts ( including the pre season game vs Toronto) he has looked even better playing against the top NHL talented teams than in the AHL.
He looks the real deal with his compete level .his composure and his agility ………but this is only a few games ; might be just my Habs ptsd of the last 30years, but I don’t want to celebrate too early .
And then yeah, maybe the Hawks again!!!2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 champs taken care of.
Would be a great time to play the Blues, Caps and Pens!
This road trip didn't make much sense. Back to back in Florida in Eastern time and then to Vegas in Pacific time then a short break to take on the Hawks in Central time and the Avs in Mountain time the very next day.Looking at the schedule, they are back in Utah next week? What is that AI generated schedule? They should have been there this week rather than next... Utah is at home this week...
Hoping Laine is back tomorrow but if not, honestly call up someone from Laval. We can't run 4 lines when Marty doesn't trust Pezz out there.Pezz played 4:32 vs Colorado and 5:49 vs Chicago. Sounds like they could have best used Pezz’s spot playing a D, if they had one.
Ideally, they wouldn’t have to use Struble either. Maybe this is where Hughes can tweak the roster with another Carrier-type deal, using Struble+ but this time go for someone with different attributes than Carrier.
And he can handle the puck. That helps out the D tremendously.Dobes moved very well left to right or right to left and he had a lightning fast glove. He is going to be a very good goalie for us.
I said I didn't want to trade "this Armia" the back half of last season it's an even stronger sentiment right now.Dream trip so far. Even the games they lost they easily could've won those with a little luck. I don't know what happened or what switch they flipped..but this forchecking run they're on is out of this world. It's impressive.
Once again everybody was really good against the Avs. Matheson and Guhle wow!! I don't know what to think about Armia anymore. His board play is as good as it gets. He's so good at this part of the game that I don't wanna lose him . Today he was up against MacKinnon a few shifts, poked the puck away from him like he was playing against a child, shielding, cycling, extending time in the offensive zone, the forchecking again. I'm at a loss for words.
