I would love to know how Slaf could be regressing in his 3rd year? How do you regress playing with Goal Caufield and Captain Nick playing next to you? I really don’t get it…..It sure would help if he goes back to playing like the #1 guy drafted instead of some AHL temporary call up.

He seems to get in his own head. Happens to young and old players. I don't think it's so much that he regressed and more he's trying to find his place when the team is playing well. I wouldn't be surprised if one game it all just clicks for him again.

No one cares
I lve maintained for years... whatever the aura is in mtl, whatever that stress is that makes forwards crumble; has the opposite affect on goalies.
Not the same can be said for opposing goalies, many have crumbled when playing against the Habs in Montreal, I've seen it many times.

We have always been good at finding goalies most of whom are not the same once they leave the organization. I don't know if it is the inspiration of playing for a franchise that has housed so many greats but it definitely is something.

We are on unparalleled levels of the mix right now.

It’s those two giant Russians that popped out of nowhere that are fuelling the Blue Jackets.

In the jar'o
Fowler punching the air realising he might have competition for the Future #1 ?
Competition can be good, especially for goalies. Dobes looks really good. I'm so impressed with how athletic he is and how calm he looks especially in the OT and shootout like he did. Especially after being run on purpose by that little shit lehkonen.

Who ever said that? We didn't lose a franchise player. But we tossed a very, very good player away for a really poor return.

But the trade we got for him was f***ing awful. Especially when he went on to basically be a playoff MVP for them.

Justin Barron was a mediocre return from minute one and honestly it only got worse.

But thankfully we've somehow turned that player into Carrier who has been rather solid for us. So at least the Lehkonen deal turned into something positive.
He blew up in Colorado. Fans are acting like we traded away the player that was in Colorado.

He was a 3rd line winger in Montreal and we got a decent return for him all things considered.

Sure we lost that trade but for the past few years all I'm reading is that we traded away a 1st liner for nothing.

Sucks for us that he reached new heights if anything I blame the Bergevin regime for not exploring his talent further.

Dobes early on, playing like a guy who is starving to keep this opportunity in the NHL and not let it go.
Such a gamer

true..but lehkonen as great during that cup run. He just didn't fit the window and Hughes wasn't going to pay him

Didn't we also get Heineman in that deal? Or am I thinking of someone else?

No.

The Canadiens also received a 2nd round pick in that deal, which was subsequently used in a deal with the Kings to trade up and select Michael Hage.

Heineman was acquired in the package from Calgary for Tyler Toffoli.

I was acting like that because I knew he was better than the role he was being given. And it's not just that we dealt him... it's that it was for Justin freakin' Barron. Woof.

From Calgary. And iirc, he was the disappointment in all of the returns from trades of that now famous TDL, for at least 8 months or so. Everyone was happy with Barron before his injury (he had just scored a neat toe-drag goal and was the best upcoming De according to Crosby), the Florida 1st received from Chariot was nearing 1st overall territory for a while, and a lot of people were complaining HuGo only got a 2nd and Heineman for what was our best asset at that TDL

I wonder if Carey Price watched this tonight? He would have been looking at a very similar version of himself in the style of Dobes. I don't watch Laval and never saw this kid play but he is very ready to play in the NHL. His lateral movement and rebound control are NHL quality and he shows no signs of nerves.

We may suck at drafting and developing centers but the Montreal Canadiens must have some of the best luck in the NHL with the goaltending position.
He handles the puck really well too...
It's Gallagher who couldn't stay onside.

Lekhs has 14 goals playing with McKinnon... Heiny has 10 playing with Yoel. I'd say pretty similar in all respects :)
You do realize Lehkonen has only played 28 games, right? lol dude's on a hypothetical 41-goal pace right now. Second on his team in goals in half of the games of most.

On top of that, he was with Middlestadt and Colton tonight. Wild.

You were one of the rare few in this case because the narrative for the longest of times was that he was a offensive black hole.

Justin Barron career is not done. I think he will have a solid career. If anything it was a good gamble. It will always be when you trade a established player for a prospect.
