Slafkovsky is frustrated with himself. He needs to chill out a bit & just play. Kid is super intense. I think MSL just wanted him to calm down a bit.
Yea sure demoting a player who is frustrated for not putting up points to a 4th line will definitely calm him down..

Good team win.

They were passing well, everyone seemed involved in the play. They forechecked well too.

Big props though to the defense. Finally got shaken up and looked its best all season in my opinion. Still work to be done but looked good.

Like I said during the game Guhle playing on his strong side and with an offensive guy in Barron they seemed to compliment each other decently.

Hutson and Matheson had a few wandering players but found they were moving the puck well.

Xhekaj seems to be in a good groove plain hockey, hitting at the right time with not crossing the line. He’s shutting down guys and just overall his game is rounding out the last few games. If any change I expect Savard in for Struble and pair Savard with Xhekaj. Nothing on Struble, just Savard’s spot seems guaranteed. Pair them together for the next bit and right these defence pairings.

Both eyes and stat told me Kirby had a decent game.

Yeah it was Slaf who struggled in this one. o_O

Pretty sure it was his reaction after. Yes, he f***ed up a play, but not so bad he deserved 4th line.

Instead, after his f*** up he skates back to the bench & yells, FXXXXXCK so f***ing loud, you can clearly hear it through the TV. He also snapped his stick in half.

Crazy thing is SN replays it going into commercial break, so you hear his long, shouted f*** twice!

Slafkovsky is frustrated with himself. He needs to chill out a bit & just play. Kid is super intense. I think MSL just wanted him to calm down a bit.
I want them to put Slaf back on his off wing. He's much more comfortable there for some reason.

It did and he played a regular shift after that.
He’s a kid. Being told to focus is not the end of the world. He was essentially told that. Slaf is still a pup. He needs to be coached sometimes, you know.

He needs to move his feet and stop trying to be fancy shmancy. Drive the net, and shoot when there is a lane. And stop looking for a teammate all the time. Trying to help a much struggling Dach who is too far away from the dirty zones won’t help him. Shoot the f***ing puck, mane. And play north-south.

Once he goes back to that, he’ll be back.

Tit-cul13 probably played his best game of the season.

And I know they want to help Dach find his groove, but man, he needs to start paying the price a bit. He won’t score if he doesn’t get to the dirty areas. Prolly scared of getting injured. But he needs to. Wraparounds and hanging by the left wall to score won’t work.

Missed the entire game – I appreciate the recap.

Defence has been a black hole so far. I've been hoping to see some progress. What were the pairings last night?

I didn't know Slafkovsky was briefly demoted; I have no problem with it. He's looked very tentative, like he's overthinking every move. Whatever we think of MSL's coaching, he's handled Slafkovsky well from the beginning. This was probably for the kid's own good.

Dach is still miles from where he was pre-injury, but it's been slightly more than a month of hockey after a full year away. I'll be concerned if he hasn't made progress by the holidays.

Ok thanks Michel
I was wondering how long that would take to pick up on!! It's corny for sure, but they do celebtrate as a team on the ice, as a team, and then roll into that celbration also...................
The triple low five that Price/Subban used to do was great, until Me-Shell shut it down, god forbid they show some personality!

Hockey players need more personality, and needs more fans................

Matheson with a couple of defensive plays on the right side one of his best games for tying up players in front of the net.
His positioning helped prevent two goals we need to see more defending in that space from him.
I never understood why they didn't have him playing the right side all along instead of foisting the responsibility on Guhle.
Funny how they changed their tune when it comes to Hutson. I hope they leave Matheson there when Savard comes back.

Caufield indeed with one of his best games of the season and it was without a very creative center and without having to score.
He has to play like that instead of just posting like he's been doing for most of the season.
Everyone hyped on his goals when his play has been suspect all season IMO.
He needs to find a balance between his two games the one he played last season when he couldn't shoot and the one where he posts up.

Uh really? Wtf mate.
Bad joke. My bad. Just a nothing burger game beating down the worst team in the league. Hard to come up with positives about wrecking a team that was under the cap floor before claiming Fabbro.

Good to see improvements defensively but when Monahan is the best forward on their team what can you take away from that? Same offensively they're a very disorganized team. Almost comical jiricek can't crack that d of what ifs like severson, fabbro and provorov.

5 goals for. So Habs met their quota for the next few games.
Weird statement when we've had 12 goals in the last 3 games... If you said this 3 games ago, sure. But right now it's a weird statement.

I never understood the point of keeping helmets on during a fight. You're just punching helmet and risking a broken hand. Should be helmets off.
Or fighting just shouldn't happen, especially stupid ones like last night.

The only time fighting I somewhat agree with fighting is directly following a dirty hit.

Stupid pre-determined fights are so dumb, especially now that players keep helmets on because they're literally just punching visors and helmets.
