I think the burly-beard trend is dying and is more of what I'd associate with hipsters. I don't see the trimmed beard or stubble look disappearing any time soon. Men have had beards all throughout history, let's not start with the bs that only shaven is good.

I've been growing a beard for 3 months now and about a month ago I decided to try beard oil

A couple of weeks ago I skipped a day and I guess my face was dry cause my cheeks were kinda sore that night on the pillow

So I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if your plan is to grow face hair

I paid $10 for mine

Beard oil has several non-beard uses. I could tell you but I'm pretty sure I would get infracted. SO yes, I use it and my chick appreciates that I do.

I have a long beard and use it to keep my skin from getting dry. I don't know how to explain it but when I don't use it, the hair on my neck in particular kind of hurts. It's as if the skin is so dry that just touching the hair hurts.

I also need it because otherwise my beard is far too bushy. It helps keep the stray hairs in.

Can confirm this. It sucks

Anyone with a decent beard should be using some form of beard oil and/or beard balm. I used oil at night and balm during the day when I used to have a formative beard.

Prefer beard balm to shape and condition. I have oil but wasn't a fan and it's collecting dust now. Very easy to make beard balm as well. Cost me 70$ for supplies and I have ran trough about 14-16 ounces so far, plus gave a bunch away to friends and family and have used maybe half the supplies I have bought. Only thing I have ran out of is 2 ounce containers.

My dirty secret is that I actually buy so much beard balm off Amazon, like once every few weeks... I just love buying different kinds, I have tried a bunch of them. Because I went back to school I got Amazon prime for free so now I'm addicted to free 2 day shipping.

The best stuff I have used so far is the Honest Amish beard balm. No strong smells, just good conditioner. I also have the Honest Amish beard wax which is pretty good for when I have a formal occasion and need to tame the beard in, but I don't like how it feels so I don't use it often. Also you need to be careful how you apply it to make sure it spreads evenly.

Most of the other crap has too much perfume and smells too strong. Nobody wears perfume anymore.

I used to love using the oil over the balm at night. The oil really does a better job, IMO, but it's messier.

True. I usually wash my beard with beard shampoo/conditioner before I go to bed. I like to have a good hold/form on mine before I go to work/out and I find the balm I make has enough wax that it is good for about 8 hrs and enough oils in it that it does look slick/Shiney for a few hours.

I don't know, maybe I didn't give the oil a fair shake but I just don't enjoy it ha

That's why I'd recommend the oil at night. Condition it and follow up with oil before bed. You'll notice even less breakage than you're already getting.
