He's such a hard one to figure what he's really worth. He's so darn good for Florida...but he's also so tiny and weak and still constantly just bullied off pucks. That system down there is also wizardry that masks defensive weaknesses.

He's one of those little guys who understands that he's little and weak, and he plays that way. It makes him so effective most of the time.

Makes it tough to decide just how much you can afford to pay a guy like that. He's a bona fide Top-3D. Either a complementary Top-pairing guy, or someone who you can rely on to anchor a Second-pairing that just feasts on easier matchups. He does a lot of things well, but nothing really great.

I'd take him over Darnell Nurse who makes like $9.5M a year...but that's literally THE worst contract in the entire league.

So that shouldn't set his realistic upper range.

I think something in the neighbourhood of Vince Dunn's $7.35M has to be kind of the cap on what he's really "worth". Even that seems a stretch and it does genuinely matter a lot, the composition of the rest of the team and defence, and who the coach/system is.

With the rising cap 7 million is a pretty fair amount for him
Disagree after this season: he really stood up when Ekblad and Montour were injured.

Given he doesn’t play PP, I don’t see him at more than 7M but he is excellent at what he does and young.
I have a feeling that people are gonna wind up very quickly overspending the cap rise tbh. Forsling was absolutely big time for the Panthers and he's moved himself above Montour in the re-sign priority rankings for me, but if I'm going long term on him I don't think I'd be comfortable at much above 6. If it was like a 3/4 year deal where you're just getting peak Forsling I think I could stomach 7, but 7x7 seems like too much for me.
