Did nothing in 13-14???? Only traded for Rychel, Ebert, Trojanovic and Pierog!!! Two minor trades, one blockbuster
Their error was not in the championship year, but the following when they stood pat instead of being sellers at deadline- that was a mistake. Imagine the return Fabbri, Leslie and/or Bertuzzi would have brought us.

I stand corrected.

Hi Storm fans; OS Attack fan here.
If the Attack do end up selling this season I wouldn't mind seeing #37 N. Suzuki and #5 S. Durzi ending up in Guelph. IMO, these two ELITE players would put the Storm in contention for a title run!
I know we are in the same division, making it difficult for management to possibly swing a deal with such a close rival but I'm going to throw this one out there. What do you folks think of this possible trade?
A couple of things to keep in mind concerning this proposed deal - N. Suzuki played along side I. Ratcliffe during his minor hockey days - and the Attack will need a few players and draft picks to replenish an underwhelming amount of picks through the next few seasons moving forward.

To Guelph; C/RW/99 N. Suzuki + RD/98 S. Durzi
To Owen Sound; LW/01 T. Bertuzzi + LD/01 M. Woolley + SAG 2'nd/19 + NB 2'nd/20 + MISS 2'nd/21 + NB 2'nd/22 + KIT 3'rd/20 + ER 3'rd/21 + GUE 3'rd/22 + GUE 7'th/20 + GUE 8'th/19

With the prices being paid these days for incoming players that could be a possibility. Draft picks might be heavy if moving Bert as well.

I'm sorry I just don't think that those 2 players or any player for that matter is worth what you've quoted. Just because the Robertson trade was beyond ridiculous, I don't think other teams are going go down that road.

So trade 2 players with probably two and a half years left in the OHL, plus 4 seconds (leaving 2 over the next 4 years) and 2 thirds for 2 half year rentals? Plus Durzi is an OA, so one of Poirier, Hanley or Commisso has to go.
Looking at next year, we would only have 5 forwards returning, and no draft picks to rebuild. As well, our #1 pick would be in the high teens.
I just think price too high.

TrueBlue; I hear you, thinking the price may be too high. If the Storm decide to "go for it", something similar perhaps can be put together. Like I mentioned, I'm just saying that the Storm have my vote for a destination for these 2 great guys/players if the Attack plan on moving them. I'm pretty sure there will be other teams calling DD for their availability- possibly Saginaw, Ottawa, London and Oshawa.

Sure.. Storm just turns over its rebuild for future. plus Bert.. plus wooley.... given the attack aren't that far off as good as Guelph..why not make that big run your selves..Howza bout a fancy D prodigy fer yer Suzuki ..Durzi..!?..

Looking at the team as it currently stands these are the players that are eligible to return next year.

Cam Hillis, Barrett Kirwan, Tag Bertuzzi, Keegan Stevenson, Ty Collins, Ben McFarlene, Cedric Ralph (OA)

Ryan Merkley, Owen Lalonde, Mark Woolley, Daniil Chayka, Zack Terry, Luka Profaca.

They will also have both of their import picks to help fill out the roster.

To echo comments already made I just do not want the Storm to move more players out to bolster the roster this year and put them in position to be a bottom team for the next couple of years again. If the team steps up and establishes that they should be considered a contender then I may change my mind. To this point they have played inconsistently and I would be more inclined to moving a couple of players to bolster team for the coming years.

Would London move a couple of pieces to acquire Ratcliffe/Schnarr?
Ottawa will be moving pieces to bolster their team as well.

Anyways it will interesting to see how things unfold.

If you ask me they don't have a choice but to buy.

Ownership dug their own grave. Had they sold a few years back instead of taking the extra 2 home playoff games, this team would be in much better shape which is crazy because its a pretty good team as is.

But you aren't going to let

Liam Hawel
Nate Schnarr
Isaac Ratcliffe
Dom Commisso
Samarukov
Toropchenko
Hanley

all walk after this season and you def wont be selling. Can pretty much bet that ownership wants those playoff games.

Whether people on these forums like it or not, Guelph is going to be buying and paying ridiculous prices to compete this year.

Sit back and enjoy it regardless. I know things look frustrating at times but at least you guys are a threat.

I cheer for a team that is about to let 2 of the best players in franchise history walk for nothing. Would love to see them just get serious and buy.

Molson Muscle
And both goalies although Popovich will be an OA
Add two scoring imports and we won't be that bad off

Right on, IMO.

It's likely not the smartest course of action, but based on the past and the present, I think it's pretty clearly the road the Storm will go down.

As a fan, if you're worried about what that might mean going forward, just hope GMGB gets outbid for whoever he wants.

I was "whining" about this two years ago and some of the same people that are now suggesting the Storm sell to protect the future, were ridiculing me for thiking a team with Bert/Fabbri/Dickinson etc should be selling.

This has been quite the ride. :help:

Who are the 2 best players in franchise history? Just curious - I’m reading lots of trade talk on multiple forums.

I was referring to my team, the Owen Sound Attack.

Nick Suzuki is likely going to go down as the best player to ever don the jersey while Kevin Hancock as been no slouch.

I just hate the thinking that 2 great players are going to walk with nothing to show thats why i appreciate proactive general managers. When you buy you buy. lol. Dont just tweak with things, go all in.

Guelph has a great squad with some flaws.

Are they a championship team as is? No, but one or two mid to big additions can change that quickly.

The core is there. Go get a big fish, another top 4 dman and some depth and you guys will be laughing into late april, early may

Junior hockey runs in 4 year cycles generally and if your team is run properly there should be a chance to challenge for a championship. I think the question should be if not this year, when is a better year. You won't win every time but you'll never win if you don't try.

Thanks - what you say makes sense. I feel similarly about the Soo. I hate to see our stars go, but think we should sell off a couple.

well; unless that feller that runs the leafs took all yer magic powders and wisdom; chances are yer present mgmt ownership group is far more likely to make a good transition than this group down here... but alas;......TONIGHT beckons.;...the Emperor stands;.....gladiators ... SALUTE!

So do the nay Sayers still think we need a goalie? If it wasn't for Popovich tonight we wouldn't have won that game. That's 3 games where he has come up big and still I read here that people want to mortgage the future for another goalie.

In actual fact we didn't deserve the win. We played without a system, just a bunch of guys skating around making passes to phantom players. Trying for the cute play instead of just shooting.

If we need to improve, it's on defence, we need to tighten up and play smart, the loss of Woolley is definitely showing. I would find a quality overage dman and send Terry to jr B to get playing time he's being hurt by lack of playing time and development.

So forget the pipe dream of a star goalie and put resources elsewhere to shore up our defensive game.

Poppy has definitely been much better the past few weeks. To be fair he was very inconsistent all through October and early November. Now hes put together a few very good weeks but hes been getting no support.

These games do reinforce the idea that going after defenceman could be the way. DiPietro is going to cost a ton as would Villalta should the Soo retool.

The offense definitely needs a kick though. Just feels like something is missing. Ralph and Kirwin being back together is a big plus and they get big minutes. But for most of tonight's game this team (where scoring is supposed to be their strength) struggled to even get shots on net.

Nice to see Hawel get a pair while hes definitely been better this year he has been quiet as of late.

Apparently Woolley is gone for at least 2 weeks. While this defence can be ugly some nights it doesnt help that with two 16 year olds back there that dont get much ice time it leaves the other 4 guys having to play most of the game. We all know Merkley isnt exactly a stud defenceman so that leaves a lot on Samorukov, Hanley and Lalonde.

yup!

Goaltending is not our issue. Defense and offense is. You face 40 plus shots a game, every game and see how you do or are feeling by the time the 3rd period comes around. We don't need some miracle one and done goalie to come in and save the day, we need consistently good defense and offense. I get so sick and tired of watching blind passes in the defensive zone go right on to the stick of the other team, sick of seeing dipsy doodle stick work getting turned over, or the multiple "no need to" passes when a shot on net would have 9 times out of 10 ended up in the back of the net. They need to go back to the basics and just play simple, straight forward hockey and stop looking for the highlight reel, put me in the movies goal.
