Don't forget when they tried to argue Gardiner being better than Tanev while using hero charts.

So apparently the Leafs have

Rielly, Gardiner, and Zaitsev all better than Tanev.

Damn. Must have the best defense in the league... three top pairing d-men? Why the hell are they so bad?

They're letting the other teams win to not bruise their egos.

The thread says very clearly that the OP wanted to discuss JVR for Gudbranson. I love how this is still about Tanev, and how awful he is, but also about how much some Leafs fans are in love with the idea of acquiring him.

But he's awful though, not worth a bag of pucks.

But they'll give us that bag of pucks. And we should thank them for it.

But he's still awful though.

I'm gonna..
being better than tanev doesn't make someone a top pairing dman.

who says they're so bad?

Bud start taking your adderall again so you can stay awake and watch the odd Canucks game so you can realise what you're saying is completely false.

To be fair, the reason nobody is discussing Gudbranson for JVR is because it's not worth discussing.

normally I agree with you but right now our system is stocked and we desperately need that 22-25 min a night defensively sound RHD.

both deals hurt but we can afford to give up Lepsic, Kap and our 1st. Willy obv has to come with Tanev and increased odds at Lindgren

Why do they desperately need that defencemen right now? Let them keep developing their own players. Who knows, maybe they have one in the system already. And not have to give up young players and picks.

26th in goals against. When you ignore that one, it's clear you're cherry picking.

They're letting the other teams win to not bruise their egos.

They are not good at gimmicks, they have stood their own when you know they play regular hockey. I or noone with a brain should take overtime or shootouts seriously at all.

I don't understand how a HAB fan who if it wasn't for Price would have been blown out in the first 2 games at home against the Leafs. Seriously neither game was close at all, you're lucky to have Price though!

Gudbranson's lack of offense is what makes me not a fan. His defensive play is very good, but man the lack of points is what seperates him from being a top 3 dman.

I enjoy the excuses, keep them coming.

what excuses. leafs humiliated the nucks a few weeks ago then lost in a shootout. leafs 5th in goals per, nucks 28th. Guess which team is rebuilding and which thinks they are good enough to make the playoffs (despite having a -17 G/D through 25 games). they are horribad.

thats good for everyone outside BC, they are just a rotten franchise:laugh:

This is a good way to put it, and im more or less on board.

Someone earlier commented about the Mendoza line, which is a good standard that I wish we had in hockey for players.

I.E. how good does a defensive D man need to be, if he gets less than 15 points?
Or How good does a offensive winger need to be to offset being atrocious defensively?
People used to use +/- but thats been mostly tossed aside for new stats.

The reason he has no offense is because he has a much larger flaw...poor skating.

This thread is a such a tire fire

At least they don't intentionally tank to get first picks. Very few teams are willing to stoop that low.

Only two teams in recent memory.
It's funny, both of those teams have high end offensive prospects and nothing on defence. Eerily similar to a western team loaded with offensive talent no leadership or defensive bone in their body.
Yet a team who scores more than 2 other teams in the league has a fairly similar record while being lauded as the worst team, not only by other fans, but their own and media pundits all over. Funny how that point never comes in these threads. One team is suppose to be improving with their young players while the other was mostly expect to be bad and have only been about as bad as that other team.

Keep dreaming Oilers2.0, 1 playoffs in like 14 seasons. 2 lockouts. I'll start the #1 overall count now, only 4 more to round it

Leafs would not be trading JVR for Gudbranson.
With that being said, I don't know why there needs to be 200+ posts bashing Gudbranson, the Canucks or the Leafs.

A simple no thank you would suffice.

In the many threads that came before it, Tanev would be the player the Leafs would have interest in.
However the price (as per HF boards) doesn't work so there is really no Van/Tor deals left to discuss.

Bad trading partners the rest of the way.

Not even close to interested.

JVR has 19 points in 23 games. Gudbranson has 3.

Because Gudbranson can be judged by his point totals..

But still, this isn't close for Toronto. I do this as a Canucks fan easily

Using points to compare value of a top 6 forward and a defensive defenseman:shakehead

(Not saying Gudbranson is worth more)

Ya, comparing a defenders point totals versus a forward's isn't appropriate.

Most fellow nation members will be looking for an over the fence home-run type deal here e.g., Tanev. Be prepared for the "Gudbranson" is awful type response (even from posters that have not watched the guy LOL). We've had many of these threads before. ;)

Lock it up maybe.
