Not really surprising it's in 2025. It's about what was projected based on the timeline

From what I'm seeing it should be pretty good

True, I was around the same age as you, and a white guy from mid-town Toronto. I was insanely hyped for GTA: San Andreas as I was a huge hip hop fan, and loved movies like Boyz in the Hood and Menace II Society for the LA aspects of the game. Just like how Scarface and Carlito's Way inspired Vice City and Goodfellas/The Godfather inspired GTA III, you could see a ton of influences in San Andreas with the main storyline clearly inspired by the two movies I mentioned, but also some Casino for the Vegas aspects, and some fast and furious type stuff for the SF part. I'm still disappointed to this day that Rockstar didn't see the value in doing a DLC that would have added SF and/or Vegas to GTA V.

Since the games take so long to make now, I get why they are rotating between 3 cities. But, I've always hoped for like a GTA set in Chicago or DC/Baltimore (drawing off the Wire).
Honestly the PS2 trilogy was some of my favorite videogames of all time, especially GTA3. I'd love it if they would just keep the city and gameplay mechanics and release expansion packs or mission packs on DLC every year or so. Like everything's the same but a new storyline altogether, maybe this time you're a Cartel or a Triad member, etc.

Kind of like Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories (though those games wound up being a little janky due to being developed for PSP and I didn't like how the storylines screwed with some established characters' back stories (especially Donald Love). But if they could do a new mission pack for GTA3, VC, and SA, I'd buy that up on day one. Seems like it would be relatively easy to code in since they have the existing architecture of the city and the gameplay engine, just have to script and do dialogue and such.

One would hope after 12 years between games lol.

But yeah it looks good and I think Rockstar end up delivering on this one.
I'd say 7 years cuz RDR2 was inbetween. While I get financially why they pump a ton of money into GTA Online, I really wish they didn't because I personally would love GTA DLC's or a new game quicker.

Agreed. The multiplayer never really stuck for me back in the day. More single player content would be ideal!

I didn't play much of GTA 5 because I was too young, but I do remember a night where my brother was at a concert and my parents were asleep where I just went online and punched the living shit out of civilians for 3.5 hours straight and just starting random melees on the street. It was the most entertaining thing to me.

If this game is good, I will obviously look to expand my journey a little bit, but I'm still going to have nights where I blast Bill Burr, get some chocolate chip cookies, and continue to beat the tar out of civilians minding their own business. Aiming a gun at them and watching their reaction was a fun time too.

This is the way. If you aren't doing the most awful things that you'd never do in real life, you're not gaming right. In the last month, in Fallout 4, I gunned down an entire friendly city just because one citizen talked back to me, dropped a nuke on another city just to see the mushroom cloud, allied with a gang of slavers, murdered my only living relative, betrayed my oldest companions and committed genocide against an entire race of beings that just wanted to live in peace... and I'd do it all again. 😈

As soon as I found Cait and discovered that she approves of all of my horrible deeds and is a lot easier on the eyes, I converted him into Mutt Chops. Kidding. He's still alive... for now.

My favorite in the series. Finished another playthrough of this game about 2 months ago. Holds up incredibly well.

It's also eerie how much the talk radio shows mirror real life even more so at this point.

That is actually the only one that I didn't finish once the series moved from top down to 3D, has it been remastered for modern consoles or would I need to play it on an older one?

Rockstar released a trilogy of remastered games which initially got bad reviews but has done better. it's the only way to play them now.

having purchased it I like it.

originally I never beat vc but once the remastered version came out I played again and it was fine. they did remove some songs and references but for the most part the core game is still there
