Huge congratulations to Räty for making the opening roster at the age of 21. Massive accompishment - well deserved based on his strong camp.
Yup
The Bains over Raty crowd after last preseason game is funny, you don’t get to make the team just because you had one good game after an entire underwhelming camp, vice versa

I mean, they kept the depth guys that can play centre. Bains much like PDG was mostly doomed by all the offseason signings at wing. There was really no room on the wing, especially with Suter switching over and Joshua due back probably within the month. I guess Raty secondarily took Bains spot by moving Suter to the wing, but it was really a positional equation more than anything.

Also, Drance was saying again today how much the organization loves Aman, and that is spot was never in jeopardy.

Here's my summary from Allvin's press conference today.

Hoglander:
-Hoglander trusted the organization
-important for young players to see the way Hoglander commits himself to fitness and the way he practices

Patera:
-Patera told the Abbotsford staff how much he liked it there
-good depth guy

Bains:
-had a great off-season
-carried himself really well in the last two pre-season games
-line-up not final for Wednesday

Demko:
-nothing has changed in terms of Demko's timeline
-Demko skating almost every day
-no reason to rush because of confidence in their goalie tandem
-coming along really well

Joshua:
-has been skating for a week with Jason Krog
-has been a tough couple months for him
-is making progress

Brannstrom:
-had discussions about him but didn't feel he was a fit as a free agent
-a guy that their pro-scouts see as an option
-will continue to work with him

Trade Options:
-had different options and ideas if they weren't able to trade Poolman
-happy for the coaches to have harder decision on who to play each night
-lots of hungry younger players in Abbotsford

Structure:
-putting a structure and system in place has really helped younger players
-sees more younger players competing for roster spots moving forward
-happy with training camp
-new guys have integrated very well

Cap Space:
-easier to work not being in LTIR
-more flexibility

Goaltending:
-very confident in Silovs and Lankinen
-Lankinen has come in with a great attitude

Off-Season Improvements:
-Tocchet and him sat down after last season and felt they needed more speed
-want to push players to have career years
-Boeser, Hoglander, and Pettersson need to find consistency
-new players have added internal competition

With Everyone Healthy:
-players will dictate the roster over the course of the season
-these injuries have given them a chance to look at some younger players
-have options if they want to keep three goalies or 13/14 forwards

Demko's Timeline:
-really doesn't know when Demko will be back
-definitely getting closer
-will know once he joins the team in full practice

Pettersson:
-is excited about the new players
-expectations and standard is higher
-Pettersson demands more out of himself
-has to play to the level he is capable of
-DeBrusk-Petey-Sprong line can be a very dangerous line
-knows Pettersson is not satisfied and has another level

Internal Drive:
-likes how everyone in the organization is pushing each other to be better
-coaches always have the energy to push players harder
-believes that players want to be in that environment

Expectations:
-players have raised the standard

When thinking about speed, Forbort and VD aren’t exactly who I’d endorse.

Hoglander being a proof of concept player-development example to show other young players is not an element I considered
