IF NJ/NYR are out of the running. columbus seems like the perfect team tbh. loads of young talent and picks to choose from. sillinger, kent johnson, marchenko?

sunday is alvins favourite day to make a move
Marchenko is breaking out in a huge way, no chance they move him. Their cupboard is full though.

I could see Allvin coveting a guy like Bischel from Dallas though, he showed well in his time with the big club and is absolutely massive and with a lot more upside than his Desharnais project.

I could also see him really liking Marchment. I don't really see that as a very helpful return for us though.

either package from whoever, the canucks will "lose"

I think there is some kind of moratorium on big trades that will interfere with special NHL events like Saturday's Hockey in Canada.
A Miller trade or any of that magnitude would over shadow "their" day.

Maybe today because it might be over shadowed by NFL playoffs, it depends if the team looks at the deal as a win or not.

Columbus would be the best trading partner tbh. I’m gonna go ahead and assume Voronkov, Marchenko, Mateychuk, Fantilli, and Lindstrom are untouchable.

KJ, Sillinger, Chinakov, Del Bel Belluz, and Svozil are all really good pieces.

Something like KJ, Sillinger alone for JT Miller would be really nice. Zero clue if Columbus is even in the mix tho

I'm not sure Miller ever decides CBJ is a good destination for himself, but you'd think that their management team would be one of the ones given permission to talk to him. He's from Ohio, they have a shit ton of cap space and prospects and they're not really a prime destination for free agents...if I were CBJ management and ownership I'd be pitching him hard... I'd even be trying to bring both Boeser and Miller over. If they want to be taken seriously, they need to bring in some serious "now" players.

He is from the eastern edge of Ohio—but culturally he is Pittsburgh.

With college towns in the USA—it’s less to do with the state and more to do with the city/college that you and your family identify with.

There isn’t really anything tying him to Columbus.

It's a 3 hour drive...

I wasn't really suggesting he had any ties to Columbus other than being from Ohio in general, a proximity to his birthplace...which he may not even have any desire to return to, for whatever reason...I'm just posing this as Columbus management, they should be making the effort to see if there is a desire to play closer to "home", or trying to sell him on coming back to Ohio.

I went into Columbus once and was expecting it to be a total shithole but it was actually a pretty nice city. I can see why some hockey players go there.

Cleveland on the other hand....

I think he ends up in Dallas.
I don't think they have the organizational depth to make it happen. D and C are already thin, and what they do have isn't nearly ready to make an impact.

Utah (if he'd waive) is a club with the pieces to get a deal done. Lots of C/D depth and a ton of cap space.

Hayton (legit upside to his game) + Marino (though Lamoureux would be preferable IMO) would be a decent return.

I posted a million times between when we inked the OEL deal and the 2023 trade deadline that we should do exactly that. It's not even 1% hindsight, it was extremely obvious at the time.

I also still wouldn't do the Carolina deal for EP
In the span of about 6 hours, you went from 'it's so annoying we didn't convert JTM, BB and TD into a bunch of 1st round picks' to hoping Miller tells management that he wants to stay....so what exactly was it that was "extremely obvious" then....but not last season when we were a game away from the conference finals....but is once again extremely obvious?

Was it obvious then that Pettersson was going to sign a massive extension and then almost immediately disappear (or get hurt as you has posited probably 100 times over the last 3 months)

Was it obvious that JT was going to take or be given a month long LOA for personal reasons?

This team has had a ton of shit go wrong this year.....and exactly none of it was extremely obvious in the spring of 2023, nor was it obvious last year when we were a legit contender. If whatever is going on with both our #1 C isn't going on....we're like a top 4 defender away from being very good.

I’d say since about 2015. Split between people that said Benning sucked and people that thought they were hockey savants and Benning was playing 10D chess.

Eh, the aftermath of 2011 and the who to blame, the Twins or Luongo conversations were pretty damn divisive (actual answer - Colin Campbell and the NHL).

But yeah, Canucks fans and infighting, name a more iconic duo?

Miller has a NMC, so it's to where he wants to go. It's probably in the Metro division most likely.
