I think it's because Lindholm has struggled both in Calgary following that stellar season, wasn't great here until the playoffs and hasn't worked out whatsoever in Boston. Whereas Zadorov has seemingly found his stride now, alongside the playoff run with us.

I wouldn't be opposed to Lindholm coming back, but there would need to be retention. Which I can't imagine Boston is interested in.

BOS would have to retain. That's non-negotiable (or should be).

The funny thing is that Zadorov still had a worse cap efficiency rating per Dom's Model going into the season, and Lindholm broke the bank!

I didn't realize he had found his stride? Here are some of the latest comments on him in their player discussion thread:

"He makes a few blatant easily correctable mistakes every game. He does not seem to care about zone defense."

"His hockey processing time is extremely slow for this level."

"His main issue is inconsistent reads defensively"

"Like others I notice he is somewhat lost defensively and makes some questionable decisions."

I just want this team to have someone that can put Perry in place Ok.

Friedman tried, and Perry played him.

No one cares about fighting if the team is winning and there's at least some comradery. Find a way to win first.

It's a little unclear. The Canucks have a team option, that's known. LeBrun says he believe he's a mutual option and both sides have to opt-in. Local media came away from the press conference with Allvin with the understanding that it was just a team option.
I've never understood this. If both sides have to agree, that's just the same thing as a new one year contract. And in a world where you can't actually legally compel someone to work for you, what even is a team option? Does it just mean they are entitled to compensation if he wants to coach with someone else?

I can't believe that people seriously believe Bissonnette had anything to do with anything. We've been hearing since Monday that the rumoured offers were atrocious and the Canucks are willing to wait.

Hoglander
  • Have sewered his confidence and trade value

This management group gets bored and always makes one move too many on weak forwards. First Mikheyev, whom we did not need, and then the Hoglander re-signing when it should have waited.

People should know by now that Allvin has no issues with waiting and holding out. I feel like this management group works at both extremes, will wait as long as it takes and if they pay more to make a deal happen earlier if they are buyers.

Probably right, but you have to try while you have a top 5 player in the league in his prime on your team. If they look bad/mid next year by the TDL as well, then the Hughes discussion gets more realistic and interesting to me.
Trying means other contracts that out last Quinn’s by 4-5-6 years.

That’s when you find yourself with a team that’s half rebuilding and half playing for a paycheque.

Need to rip off the bandaid.

Unless Alvin knocks it out of the park and the new players slide in and the team improves and the core players outside Quinn improve the trade involving JT is most likely also the end of Quinn’s career here

How good is Chytil? Lindholm's low end (now) is probably comparable to his high end.

The reality of accepting a low return for Miller means the team has to take a chance at 2C. Chytil, Kotkaniemi have better contracts, but have never achieved Lindholm's highs.

Aside: It's weird how people lionize Zadorov here due to a strong playoff performance (and being big). Lindholm had a strong playoffs here too, and he wasn't considered a bottom end player for the majority of his career, like Zadorov.
How likely is Lindholm to reach that high again? 0.1%? How likely is it that Lindholm gets worse? Pretty likely. Chytil and Kotkaniemi at least have some probability of improving. Fluto Shinzawa (BOS Athletic beat reporter) wrote a very recent article with the premise that, "Lindholm is a $7.75M 3C, it is what it is".

I had also been very firmly and vocally on the side of not wanting Zadorov re-signed. Certainly wasn't me lionizing him. He's a career #5 and people were losing their minds because he played 11 games at a top-four level.

In a very disappointing season, it’s fun to see the two guys we didn’t re-sign be considered cap dumps on their new team after 40 games.
they could be playing 3 minutes a night right now and people would still be arguing we should have given them those contracts it’s so stupid lol

I love Cody but he isn't too bright sometimes. Rutherford is a President that Aquilini will at least shut up and listen too. Things are a shit show but I'm pretty confident Aquilini isn't part of it for once.

btw is JT Messier traded yet?

I've tried to remain positive this season but I just can't do it anymore. This season is over. We lose any trade involving Pettersson or Miller. The writing is on the wall with Boeser, Allvin needs to see if he can get some sort of asset for him because clearly he doesn't want to resign him. I honestly think we have to trade Hughes. His value is at an all time high and there is no way in hell he resigns here in two years and I don't blame him. Obviously we lose that trade too. This organization is a f***ing joke.

Someone convince me Hughes wants to stay a Canuck forever please.

don't think the offers are anywhere close to that. My guess is canes are offering KK, Roslovic and a b level prospect plus a 2nd.

I think this goes back to Rangers offer and you have to wonder was that maybe the best offer out there is there was indeed a 1st on the table? I understand the gap was retention or a sweetner but from what we've seen sweetner wise perhaps that was maybe a 3rd round pick so could that really have been the difference between doing a deal and not?

It was also reported Carolina wanted another forward coming back if they were making the trade.

maybe hoglander or are they really trying to fleece the canucks are are asking for boeser or garland (which definitely means the deal can't be KK and JR)
