Trading Miller in the offseason I can understand because teams are going to give you shit offers in season and better serves at the draft when things are more flexible.

Plus the Cap is going up and GMs go nuts when they can overshoot the Cap before the season starts.

Now how the toxicity runs through the team if they wait that long is another story. Team could be bottom 5-6 in the league if they just ride it out given the way it’s trending.

But unfortunately mgmt has done this to themselves and now they have to fix it. Problem is it doesn’t look like a quick nor easy fix.

Oh at least one player is getting traded, probably more, just not sure who yet.

Yes it is obvious, hes the better younger goalie with the better track record, just like Stolarz who i was advocating for all summer, and Thompson who was good in vegas too.

Stolarz makes 2.5M.
Your argument is TOR should've gone with woll and ??lyon or rittich at 1M to aave 1.5M dollars and be way worse.
Amd Washington should do the same this summer, let Thompson sign in carolina and win hella games while the caps roll with lindgren and Tokarski to save 2m bucks... Seems stupid af imo.

And you dont want to pay the Lankinen, the best goalie of the bunch of trash you've mentioned less than 1.6% of the cap more than that, in a rising cap, and be worse instead.

Which is why our mgmt team is not doing that, its jimtarded.

You've listed a bunch of trash backups on bad teams who have been searching for goaltending and some obviously bad starters with trash contracts.

We're talking about four million for a top tier 1B, who are you signing thats better than Lankinen to be the 1a/1b tandem with Demko and for how much exactly?

All the options you gave are way worse even if you think saving 1.5M for ahuge downgrade is worthwhile.

Anyways clearly you want to ditch good players and great goaltending for mystery box older garbage backups because save a million dollars, which is stupid as hell so good luck im done with such a benning tier argument thankfully our management will not be doing. I would also prefer to win games instead of search for better goaltending endlessly.
Again, you can't read and you simply can't grasp any of these concepts: Risk vs. reward, uncertainty, salary cap allocation. In your mind, "I seen this guy good for 30 games, so he must be legit, sign at all costs!!!!" and that's all there is to it.

And my guy, c'mon. If you want to talk about Benning-level takes, they're all yours. Here are some of your other recent takes:
- Lindholm contract is good
- EDM without McDavid is a "lottery bad" team

Yikes.

Speaking of, what do you think of the Seravelli report that Boston is keeping tabs on the Miller front?

Lindholm is likely not long for that organization, and they seemed to have liked him here...

(I know you hate the Lindholm contract, I'm just thinking about fit (with retention))
I would not be swapping Miller for Lindholm straight up. Would be need to max retention and some other assets to get me listening.

I'm not surprised BOS is sniffing around on Miller.

Thats not all there is to it at all, like Stolarz and Thompson, Lankinen now has multiple years of proven 1B capabilities. What are you talking about and where have you been.

Which again is much more likely to succeed next year than your genius suggestions of older worse backups, to save less than 2m.

Its absurdly stupid to let Lankinen walk and then look for another Lankinen, why not just shoot yourself in the feet.

Completely irrelevant but 1. lindholm has a handful less points than ep... with atleast similar defense. For millions less than jeff skinner has been making, in a near 100m cap environment, he's really not that overpaid for a 2C, and as we saw performs in playoffs with good wings. And 2. List out the oilers roster for me sans mcdavid and tell me.its good....just because they beat this canucks teams awful defense tonight, they lost WITH mcdavid a few days ago...

So again, lucky management isn't doing what you suggest and ditching a very capable 1B for the like of lyon, vanacek, big save dave and the other garbage options youre advocating for.
So demko gets injured and we have 33yr olds sens failure 1.5M forsberg or DET failure lyon and silovs to cover 18 games or 25..?!...talk about benning tier yikes takes there's half a dozen of them.

We're talking four millions for the guy you know works and performs well, that's soon to be less than 4% of the cap, or the old retreads mystery box...

Doesn’t seem like a tough decision tbh.

Writings on the wall for management/ownership.
Just depends if they have to erase the "tool" and add "build" if they let this go on longer and piss off Hughes more

no because you only tie your management's hands when you want to limit the damage they can do on the way out the door and i don't believe it's jr/allvin's decision to retain miller after all we've heard

The decision to keep Miller was rumoured to be due to NYR changing the parameters of the deal.

Thus far, the only indication Aquilini has stepped in is the Mason tweet, which still leaves the potential for a pre-deadline move intact.

I would not be swapping Miller for Lindholm straight up. Would be need to max retention and some other assets to get me listening.

I'm not surprised BOS is sniffing around on Miller.

I never stated it would be straight up. BOS would have to retain to at least $7m AAV (Allvin's last AAV offer to Lindholm) and have a very good asset along with, like a 1st rounder. That's the basis for a deal with BOS.

What are you talking about? When did Stolarz have "multiple years as a proven 1B"? Was it when he played 27 games in a season as a pure backup? 28 games? 19 and an .899 Sv%? Toronto got him cheap because they took a chance on a "mystery box".

No one can take you seriously because you don't know what you're talking about.

My point about your other takes (like the Lindholm contract and calling EDM sans McDavid "lottery bad"....lmao, how did that go tonight?) is relevant. Because your takes are generally bad. Like this one is.

Some other recent takes of yours:
- "staple Friedman to Hughes because he can pass the puck as well Hronek". How has that been working?
- Canucks brass think Lafreniere is a center
- Heiskanen for JT and Hoglander is "fair enough"

C'mon man. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I definitely would not be interested at $7M. Like I said, would need max retention to even be listening.

I know exactly what im talking about, i watched him in Anaheim and Florida, where he was frequently excellent in front of rough teams. Same as Thompson in vegas.
And for the record gibson and Dostal both.

So clearly i know.more about it than you callingnit a lucky chance mystery box, its not that lucky when joe blow fan can see it too, and call it.

Its literally the weakest most beta thing to do to bring up outside noise as part of your argument lol.

Only one embarrassing themselves is you not knowing Lankinen or Stolarz had multiple years of solid play.

And since I'll endulge your lameness again
1. We have seen friedman be fine making a pass to hughes and up ice, and as i also said at 5v5 and rotate hronek when necessary.
2. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, castonguay would know most and theyve been trying to get him fornyears. Maybe not idk.
3. If you cannot see sarcasm that obvious then lmao, there's even a follow up post, atleast you're not the only sucker there tho.

Anyways anymore suggestions we should ditch Lankinen in the trash for to save a million and ahalf bucks or just those old garbage backups from teams always looking for goaltending?
Who is better than Lankinen and for how much, list em off or stop with the stupid dork nonsense.

Advocating for Silovs and Rittich/vanacek/Forsberg combo if demko is injured is ridiculously dumb when you have a better younger version already. 4% of the cap..... four.

If this continues for another couple of weeks, Allvin and the Canucks will be ready to 'flush' the season. And if that unfolds, there's no real pressure to make a deal.

It's not as if a blockbuster at the TDL is going to change the outcome of the season anyway. And in many respects it could be liberating,

Allvin will under no pressure to acquire 'immediate help' for this floundering team which isn't going anywhere, anyway. Maybe he can instead settle for another team's Grade A prospects or picks and bet on a better future.

My take after reading a couple of pages on here:

1 - Make a deal. We need to make a deal.

2 - don't make a deal thats a bad deal.

The problem is what if only bad deals are available? How now brown cow? I for one do not want to return to Dim Jim and the "trade futures just to do something, and survive the cap by LTIR".

The whole Bissonnette story of bumping into Aquilini and telling him to keep Miller, is so hilarious.

Most people will think it’s made up. I for one think it’s perfectly on brand. You have a team President with more experience than anyone else in the league. A solid GM who’s learned from the best. Then you have a degenerate owner who is only driven by money, not winning.

The idea of moving Miller would certainly would soften the Canucks playoff chances, in turn losing out on that big chunk of playoff revenue that is no longer shared revenue.

So this apparent conversation happens between the owner the Biz, then a few days later Gary Mason says not to be surprised if Miller is still around after the TDL.

Mason is very well connected with Aquilini. So guessing Milller is sticking around. Takes one call from the owner to JR to say, don’t trade him.

We’ve seen this play out so many times, not even a surprise anymore. This team will never go anywhere with Aquilini around. It will always be short term bandaid solutions.

I hate it.

Allvin is getting on my nerves. He painted himself into a corner with this roster, going into the 24/25 season with the defensive core full of AHLers and 6/7 NHL defensemen. Most Canuck fans knew once Zadorov was dropped and Forbort and Desharnais were signed that the Canucks were in a lot of trouble. Losing out on Zadorov and Cole was a huge miss, and both players would probably have helped put a end to all this commotion in the Canucks dressing room.

Now that Allvin has called out our top 2 centermen we have diminished assets. ALL teams now know that Miller wants out, and that Pettersson and him can't co exist together. Ridiculous. Other general managers are now making a mockery of us with their shitty proposals.

Allvin seems to get way too enamored with certain players. He got Lindholm last season in which was a player he was apparently pushing for but a lot of time and wasted energy was thrown at Jake Guentzel. Being so obsessed with Guentzel at last years deadline Allvin totally missed out on smaller pieces to make the Canucks a more complete team as a Stanley Cup contender. While also missing out on some good defensive pieces what the Canucks could use going forward. Kovacevic went for peanuts and would look fantastic in the lineup. While Alex Carrier could have been signed for a cheap deal, or traded for at a later date. Both players are playing great hockey now for Jersey and the Canadiens.

Last year Allvin had the Midas touch where everything he touched turned to gold, this season everything Allvin touches turns to poo.

You made this mess Allvin, time to fix it.

Marky out w a knee sprain.

Send Demko to them for a D prospect

I hate it.

Our owner spends to the CAP every year. He also pays OEL etc etc to play on other teams. We're lucky to have him as an owner.

Okay hear me out.

Offer sheet Luke Hughes 11-12M.

1. NJ makes a tough decision whether to match.
2. Makes it extremely harder for them to sign Quinn in 2 years especially when Jack will command a 14-15M+ contract in 4 years.
3. If NJ doesn’t match, you guarantee Quinn stays and you have a Quinn-Luke pair for the next decade.
4. Luke won’t be “worth” his contract for the first few years but eventually he will be. He’s a stud top 2 dman and already a better defender than Quinn at the same age.
5. ????????
6. Profit
