Well, I fear that whoever our backup goalie will likely have to play far more games than the average backup.

As much as I love Demko, his injury history is concerning. Hopefully Silovs can get his game going.

It's like with a car you really like – once you start fixing one issue, another one pops up, and after a while, it's probably time to sell it and get what you can.

If I remember correctly with Spencer Martin, he played great until he had to play as a starter. After x amount of starts his game dropped. I do remember thinking at the time, oh yeah, that's why he's a backup.

Most nights this year we've seen Lankinen stand on his head, however we can gamble if your goal is to save money.

Management gambled the same way just this offseason on D without a backup plan, and now we are an absolute disaster.

I see your point about Demko, but no one plans that he will get injured. You plan on him playing 60+ games and hoping your backup fills in the rest.

This team was actually willing to roll with Silovs until they changed their mind during training camp.

The money saved in backup goaltending should be better spent on better D.

It’s way too early to make a decision on Lankinen unless you are getting a bargain. Otherwise, we need to to see how Demko and Lankinen do over the second half of the season

Arguing against inherent goalie volatility based on historical data is a really bad take.

Most of the team doesn’t even look like they want to play here anymore aside from Hughes and a few guys we picked up this summer (give them a couple seasons in this dressing room and let’s see where they are) so probably should move most of them at this point.

^ clock is ticking for Hughes. This trade needs to just be made. Rip the bandaid off already. It needed to be done a month ago, in a perfect world.

Riding Demko 60 games with a shitty defense helped us get to this predicament.

While the Canucks situation is definitely different from the Rangers (injuries + off-ice drama), the Rangers plummeted down the standings earlier in the season and managed to turn things around lately, going 7-0-3 in their last 10.

They at least made a couple of moves, Kakko for Borgen and Trouba for Vaakanainen, and while they didn't have an immediate impact it was still a shakeup.

Rutherford and Allvin doing nothing all season is completely inexcusable.

The Rangers are 7-0-3 in their last 10 games, the Sabres have more points than the Canucks in the last 10 and don't face anywhere near the market pressure, and the Devils, Canes, and Stars don't actually have to make a deal if it's not a win for them. Allvin sat on things too long, he's the most desperate GM of the bunch, or should be.

The Rangers won the President’s trophy last year, they’re a talented group. They went on an extended slump bc their f***ing genius of a GM introduced a bunch of drama into the dressing room.

I would be listening to offers on all of the old core, Pettersson, Miller, Boeser and Demko.

If you can get anything near the rumored Carolina offer for Petey last year, Necas, Kotkieniemi and Morrow, then pull the trigger.

Too much uncertainty with this core "Other than Hughes" going forward.

Speaking of, what do you think of the Seravelli report that Boston is keeping tabs on the Miller front?

Lindholm is likely not long for that organization, and they seemed to have liked him here...

(I know you hate the Lindholm contract, I'm just thinking about fit (with retention))

I jokingly had this in a Canucks Army article. However, Lindholm has a full NMC and would probably block it.

You don’t do a completely makeover mid season, that’s not the time to do it.
Trade Boeser, Miller, Forbort, Desharnais and Heinan. See if we can flip some of those picks for like 2 guys back and then ride the season out.
Sit Petey out and just let him recover from the knee injury properly and prepare for next season.

Nah Trouba needed to go and the country club needed a shake up. Zibanejad spent his off season getting married and having a kid he wasn't ready. Kreider's 5 v 5 game has been falling off for awhile and that spilled into his PP effectiveness this year. Both those 2 were terrible as well as Trouba and sabotaging the team. 25 million of junk before they started cleaning it up and lit a fire under their asses.

Allvin should trade JT MIller before the 4 Nations Tournament so the Canucks players coming back have something to look forward to. Especially Hughes, who is stuck with him on Team USA.

I’m betting on it now.

So often when following this team, does shit not make sense. This is one of those times. When it does, somethings always around the corner to smack us out of it.

It’s part of Canuckdom. I wish we had turned this quick on Benning, but it is what it is. I think this generation of fans has a fervent passion that I haven’t seen before - but we are even more bipolar than ever.

It’s always the sky is falling or we’ll never lose again and it reflects with our results. It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Anyways, now that’s out of my system I’ll go back to chuckling at all the posts the read like suicide notes lmao.

I want to see Miller, Pettersson and Hughes play in an environment that is not VAN. Then act in a given direction.
