I gave Benning the benefit of the doubt right up until he started handing out those extensions in 2015.
Yup, that was my turning point too. That's when I knew he was in over his head as a GM. Prior to that I even defended the way he spoke. I also defended 1-2-3-4 Willi D because I thought he was rolling lines to keep team morale high and keep his top players fresh, and then the playoffs rolled around....and he didn't stop.

Pretty much telling teams to up their offers or f*** off

Which they rightfully should. I could care less if Miller is turning 32. He is a 100 point player and among the leagues best centermans. Getting Chytil, Kotkieniemi or Roslovic as the main piece in return is downright embarrassing. If Allvin accepted these rumored deals then he should be shot out of a cannon. If the Canucks have to wait until summer to get a better deal then so be it, but the suspense is killing me.

If the rift is between JT and Toch...fire the coach! Get someone else to take over and then trade JT in the off season!

It's like this whole team need to reset. Trade JT, Brock, and Petey

I think if Pettersson doesn’t hit at least 68-70 points, you trade him too.

Less than 68 points for 11.6M would be embarrassing. I’m saying 68 because that’s the lowest he had back in 2022.

Biznasty got Aquillii to delay this deal until the off-season

Might've saved us

It's certainly a long-overdue revisiting of the communications strategy around this specific issue. I dunno if Biznasty had anything to do with it, but they should have been slow playing this from the beginning. Might have dodged a bullet if the Rangers owner was indeed the party that tanked the deal last minute.

Friedman not reporting he believes the Rangers package was Chytil, 1st rounder and a prospect. Would depend on the prospect, but no idea what the fascination with Chytil is.

There’s no excuse for an underwhelming return for Miller. There’s very few 100pt centers with size, grit, toughness, great at faceoffs, solid defensively and used to shutdown top players like McDavid. Any playoff team should be all over adding Miller to their lineup.

Glad to see that management is taking their time... wouldn't bother me at all to keep jt and trade him at the draft. All those crappy losses aren't all on him, and when he is on his game, he is a difference maker

I’m fine with them waiting until this summer, the rumored offers have been very uninspiring and you’d think there’d be a bit more if a market once teams have more so flexibility. But the organization has really bungled this from a controlling the narrative and PR standpoint. Not looking forward to the discourse for the next 6 months. What a mess.

That's such a terrible snap decision sort of move to make.

You truly believe he's only going to be a 67 point center for the rest of his contract?

I know all the insiders are saying that a trade is inevitable and likely happening before the deadline, but I genuinely believe the Canucks best move right now is to shake things up with some lesser pieces while bringing in a vocal+level-headed vet, and overpay if needed for a top 4 D that can move the puck.

If they can string together a bunch of good games (and wins) until the deadline it might smooth things over for the time being, then they can properly re-evaluate things in the off-season without needing to make a panic trade for poor value.

Looks like they're dead set on making the trade no matter how terrible the return is.

Unless Miller has literally driven over the team's dog, this is a painfully inflexible stance that demands a review.
