If Benning had held out like he should have, Theodore could have changed the entire dynamics of the Kesler trade. But ancient history, I guess.

i don't really like any of carolina's prospects as the centerpiece of a miller trade. apart from the aforementioned morrow there's nadeau who is okay but he's small and not a great skater which is trouble for an nhl career imo. unger sorum i like a little more but he profiles a lot like garland. nikishin is a pipe dream. i dunno much about heimosalmi maybe there is something there?

All great players but it goes to show how special the team was in the decade from 2002 to 2012, particularly with Luongo and the Sedins. And how special Hughes is now.

Hughes is rapidly making it a contest between him and Bure for best player in franchise history, if he hasn't passed him already.

• Working on a Miller trade and have been for a little while one; want it to be behind them
• Miller would like some resolution
• Still going back and forth with the Rangers
• Devils are not one of the teams that have permission to talk to Miller about a trade
• There are 3 or 4 teams that are allowed to talk to Miller; does not know if that includes the Rangers or is in addition to them
• Hurricanes are a part of the mix; Stars and Wild to a certain extent as well
• Penguins have talked but doesn’t see a match
• Canucks want to get something done sooner rather than later
• Isn’t a full sell; want an NHL asset in part of a package that may or may not, depending on the team, include a 1st round pick

Chicago Blackhawks

• Taylor Hall, Patrik Maroon, Ryan Donato, and Alec Martinez are upcoming UFAs that teams have a lot of interest in; likely to be moved ahead of the deadline
• Expects 50% retention on Taylor Hall; have 2 retention slots left
• Willingess to retain on Seth Jones; more likely to occur in the offseason
• Jones would be open to a move; has a full NMC

Seattle Kraken

• Open to a variety of possiblities; might sign Brandon Tanev and Yanni Gourde to extensions; both are highly coveted by several teams
• Oliver Bjordstand, Jaden Schwartz, and Jamie Oleksiak all have another year on their contracts and NTCs; sounds like the Kraken are open to having discussions on them

Dallas Stars

• Are poking around on J.T. Miller
• Have money to spend and ownership is willing to spend it
• Will be buyers heading into the deadline

Winnipeg Jets

• Contract negotiations for any of their free agents have not begun yet
• Nikolai Ehlers is likely to explore free agency
