That’s makes no f***ing sense. Petey and Miller not cool with each other and we ship both of them to the Canes and magically they will be best friends in Carolina? Are the insider on f***ing drugs?

You’re massively misreading this. As in the Canucks had separate trade proposals; one for Pettersson and one for Miller. Not that they would be each traded to Carolina in two trades.

They discussed both of them but in individual trades

That also seems incredibly stupid. Trading Petey doesn’t mean we can actually keep Miller. If we are trading both then we are starting right into a rebuild.

State of the thread to assume it was both though. Wouldn't that be funny.

"We can fix them!"

I do wonder if he meant the Canucks made two different offers, or the Canes did.

Yeah, that’s not entirely clear. Early today, Seravalli said that the Hurricanes had proposed several different scenarios. So it may just be a moot point. Both sides were negotiating and the Hurricanes were also dealing with the Avalanche and Blackhawks.

Cash wise $6m @ 50% for rantanen, $5.25 for Hall going out. $2.25m or around a million for the remain part of the season.
They created more cap space for further deals.

I'm not sure Hall is worth much.

Chicago just made $1m cash money and got a 3rd, and more deadline options. I line it.

Well, that takes Carolina off the board, with Rantanen and Taylor Hall moving to the 'Canes and Necas and Drury moving to Colorado.

And the Hawks are the third team in the mix, shipping out Hall and acquiring a mid-round pick and retaining some of Rantanen's salary.

That's probably what it's going to take to move Miller.....some third team taking on salary. But with the term still remaining, it won't be an easy contract to move.

I hope they don't trade Miller just to get a deal done. These Rangers rumored offers stink. Best to hold out until off season unless we get what we want.

Bad time of year to trade a big, long contract. Teams with the best playoff hopes are capped out and few have have good players to give up at they are needed. You can't retain on Miller due to his contract length unlike rantanen.

Off season teams have cap and are desperate to fix holes. Long term deals are easier to move.

I dunno. To me, Chicago is the most puzzling team here.

I see the rationale from the other sides. CAR is taking the big swing and going all-in. They need a true finisher. They got another useful player in Hall. COL doesn't think they're gonna re-sign Rantanen so they replace him with Necas - who while inferior, I think his skating/transition ability will fit the Avs really well. And they have more cap space to make another move.

Chicago trades Hall AND uses a retention slot at $4+M for.....a third round pick. Seems pretty light.

Carolina/Tulsky were dummying Vancouver the entire time. Negotiating ploy with COL to say they have "another deal" on the table.

Really? If they knew they couldn’t afford Rants then having Necas is a good asset to have. If he doesn’t gel they can def flip him next year for something.

Let’s be real. COL could phone us tmro and prob have EP40 for Necas +

They would turn a UFA they can’t afford in EP with no real losses. That would be real shrewd business by the Avs. Brokering the deal btwn the Canes and Canucks and coming up w a 7 year signed player
If Petey has trouble with JT, I'm not sure he will have an easier time with MacK. By all accounts MacK can be pretty tough as well.

Not necessarily. Kotkaniemi/Roslovic + something is likely still on the table but we’re not willing.

Maybe. Former-GM Neil Smith said this:

A conclusion would be nice, just so the games maybe become enjoyable again. Last sustained stretch of enjoyable games for me was when Miller was on leave and right before Boeser got concussed.

I wonder what a deal with Colorado would look like that the Canucks actually accept?

I imagine Girard or Middlestadt has appeal. I like Ritchie too.

Miller and MacK would match each other's energy probably.

Going on record again...

Any deal for Miller that has Mittelstadt or Kotkaniemi as the main/best piece coming back (even if there are other pieces) should be absolute non-starters.

Miller has 33 points in 37 games. Just a few points off PPG in his "worst" season as a Canuck.

Teams are trying to lowball offers for him because they think the Canucks are desperate. Don't be fooled into thinking his actual value is that low.
They are desperate. The team is in shambles right now.

And Miller just doesn't have much trade value. He's 32, got an NMC, big contract, and is a toxic malcontent.

People need to realize no other team is valuing him at a premium.

Starting to agree with those saying hold onto Miller til the offseason when the ask will probably be more than now. No point in trading a player of that quality right now well the offers are garbage. This season seems to not be it for us, let him and Pettersson sulk it out... probably wanna trade other expiring assets tho..
I don't really like the idea of wasting more games, weeks, and months with this core and having Quinn show up to the rink every day to stew in toxic negativity.

Let it go on longer, Quinn might just demand he's out too.

I would do Middlestadt and a 1st all day for Miller.

He’s 6 years younger. He’s signed for 3 more years at less than 6 million. Is he as good as Miller? No.

But you can flip that 1st for a Byram or defender and then things start to look better.

Middlestadt is meh. The Avs late first would not get Buffalo to pick up the phone. You could attach it to something like Willander/our first as a filler but on its not a centre piece.
