Old Ricky talking about how if Pettersson to NYI was possible, the Canucks would need Barzal back.

Also mentioned more pieces would be involved.

He’s phrasing as a what if, but he usually doesn’t say stuff like that unless there’s something there….

The other pieces better be their 1st so we can get an actual C or D.

To me there is no question of Petey or Miller, its obvious BOTH need to go.

This is our only window where we can auction Petey off to the highest bidder before his NMC kicks in.

This is the only time Miller will have any value being this close to a 100 point season at his soon to declining age going forward.

This is a blessing for Vancouver. Unfortunetly it needs to get messy and distracting around here but that was the only way these two players were gonna get rode outta town was if something blew up in our faces.

Embrace the hard actually meant this right now. Not the games being played on the ice.

Petey for Barzal and Dobson
Canucks need to balance the trade out but not by much
If they get out of a trade like this with Willander, Lekk, D-Petey, Kudryayszusysyov its a good tree for us
I think this is the trade ( keeping in mind Dobson will be due for a raise next year )
I love Petey skill but when he is the #16 on the hard working depth chart he's gotta go, got a tonne more respect for PDG in this department

If you want to immediately end the Quinn Hughes competitive window, and ensure he leaves via UFA to join his brothers, then sure.

Robert Thomas is also another option depending on where St Louis think there at, they are retooling and have a lot of older players.

So it might potentially come down to keeping EP vs keeping Tok.

If you’re the management do you keep EP with the idea of replacing Tok down the line, because otherwise it’s foolish?

Man, don’t want to be JRPA right now. Their decision will probably be made by the quality of the offers.
Smartest thing to do would be to get the team healthy first. 17 games till 4 nations. 27 games after 4 nations. Games restart before 2 weeks before trade deadline. Teams trying to catch the Canucks are shit. Canucks could play .500 till healthy and still be ahead of the race.

Definitely think the JT & EP issue was magnified by losing Hronek which in turn forced to overwork Hughes.

Looks like there’s gonna be “major surgery”

Trade both Miller and Pettersson. Boeser will want too much money, so traded at deadline.

Demko traded because he’s not reliable and appears to be injury prone

Quite the shakeup

Hasn't Barzal pretty much only played on the wing the past few years?

I wonder what Utah would want for LW Matis Maccelli. He's having a bit of an off year but he's also been spending a lot of his time on the third line. Could be a good high reward trade if Allvin could sneak this player from Utah. He's only 24 and had some very good seasons in the NHL thus far.

Yeah for like one season we actually had a competitive window.

Then our star goalie got an injury he will never recover from..

Then our franchise center checked out for the last calendar YEAR..

Then our 100 point center has now gone off the rails..

Meanwhile our best sniper and longest tenured Canuck is a UFA to be wanting a longterm deal, with his own health concerns..

We traded our captain for a guy with previous shoulder issues, who has since had yet another shoulder issue..

Thats 5 outta 6 core players with huge question marks around them.

"Huggy competitive window" is too shortsighted. We're an absolute mess today and have holes everywhere and not many assets to address them.

I want a contender every year for the next decade not just for this year and the next two because we fear that Quinn might leave us.

Meanwhile we have a chance to reshape the team around Hughes and three years to build a championship calibre team so he wants to stay.

Not whatever THIS is..

I doubt you’re getting both Barzal and Dobson but Barzal, Romanov and a pick/prospect seems more reasonable.

I think this is right.

You are more likely to keep Quinn Hughes if you show a willingness to adjust the core around him until you get it right—rather than foolishly try the same players over and over.

The Miller-Pettersson-Boeser-Demko core has had their shot. It would be insanity to try again and hope for a different outcome in the fifth, sixth, or seventh try.

I just don’t see a world where they trade EP.

They should move Miller first for best offer heading into the deadline, and then revisit what to do with Pettersson pending what happens thereafter. I wouldn't move Pettersson until the summer after you see what he looks like without Miller. What if he blows the doors off? Then you can either keep him, or his value is even higher. I doubt his value goes much lower either way.

i don't really see how they ice a competitive team if they move out pettersson and miller. you're not getting comparable centers back and you're not contending with blueger, suter and sasson in the middle. even if you get something like zibenajad (and he rebounds) and i dunno shane wright or matty beniers or something you're in rough shape
