One team I haven't heard about being interested in Miller but absolutely would be is the Philadelphia Flyers.

They have no #1 C and nobody really in the pipeline who's on the right trajectory to get there.

They also have a surplus of left shot defenders and three 1st round picks.

maybe something like Miller and Hoglander for:

York
Frost
Cates
PHI 1st (currently 12th)
Sanheim, Frost + 2025 1st.

absolutely insane sentence:

"The Canucks lack wingers, so it’s fair to say that Pierre Engvall, who is in the second season of a seven-year deal worth $3 million, could be a player in a potential deal."

lmao

dobson would have been an elite add before we got hronek, but especially now with willander on the right side... that deal makes no sense for either team

Sanheim would need to be part of the deal.

The rest of their assets are mostly filler.
Sanheim on his contract is one of the most valuable assets in the league. Big mobile defenders who win their (extremely) high leverage minutes are worth their weight in gold. There is ZERO chance they move him.

Cam York is absolutely not filler.

I think if you're getting a true big ticket RHD like Dobson, Willander is going the other way in the package most likely.
Along with Miller? Seems like an overpayment for Dobson unless I'm totally sleeping on how good Dobson is. Willander and his ELC could be a silver bullet for addressing our blue line depth during the upcoming OEL buyout penalty years.

I don't think we're getting Dobson for Miller alone, but it is an 82 year old man in charge of that team and he may highly value Miller yelling at his team mates when he's not playing well.

I'm just saying that one solution to not blocking Willander involves moving him for an established U25 defender more in line with the age of the current core as they push during the Hughes contract window.

But, I agree that the allure of the 925k ELC specifically for the two worst OEL buyout years is very strong here and they should be targetting a rock solid 2nd pair LD to leave the room for Willander to slide into 2nd pair RH. That is my preferred approach, but you have to be open to other rare opportunities that might crop up, like gettting Noah Dobson in his prime.

If York isn’t filler, Philly can keep him and replace Sanheim when he comes to Van.

every time i game out a rangers trade for miller it gets bigger unless you abandon lafreniere. i don't see it really happening unless kyprios is correct and we attribute significant value to zib.

the obvious move would be to get younger and align the core age when we move miller.

i believe that if the canucks don't do that it would be because miller put a gun to their heads and would only waive for the rangers and the rangers knew it. but i also believe the current canucks management would at some point release the hounds on miller if he did that and then the rangers tried to rob us.

In what universe is Sainheim a much better player than JT Miller. Just an aside statement.
big ultra mobile 28 YO top pair anchor defender who's good for ~25 of the hardest imaginable minutes/night and puts up high calorie ES production (top 15 league wide over the last 1.5 yeas) signed for 6 more years at $6.25MM.

Miller's camp leaked to Dhali they aren't asking for a trade and would like to stay in Vancouver, so unlikely the bolded happens. That's at least some good news for management ... they have all these guys under team control and nobody is outright asking to leave town.

If Rangers want Zib in a Miller trade they can pay a third team to take him, Chicago need talent, Rangers give them a protected 1st and retained on Zib.

That Islanders pick is 5th overall right now. That’s a package I think you’d have to look long and hard at - the first can likely get you a quality young centre on top of Dobson as a return.

Admittedly, I thought the Islanders were better than that. Damn, they've really fallen off. In that case it's more worth considering, but only if we could use that first in an immediate second trade for another center.

You can tell who hasn’t watched Zibanejad play

The guy is a shell of himself and I’d view him as a cap dump
He's paid 8.5M through to 2030. The contract is completely buyout proof. He's more than a cap dump, he's basically a mill stone.

He might really dislike his coach. If Drury is making a whole sale change. Then he gets bought it in the summer. Grab him for half the price in the summer and hope he has a Duchene type rebound.
