Trade Demko to a California team for whatever they want to give up so he can be close to family, and sign Lankinen 3x$3.5M or whatever he wants reasonably. New era coming.

I can't imagine Lankinen will go for anything less than 4M AAV

If you're Lankinen do you really sign in Van? As along as Demko is here he's the #1. Canicks are a mess, our two top forwards are a no show and fight with each other. Canucks are trending downwards. I think if Lankinen keeps this level of play up, he's going to have options

We had him over a barrel in summer and now he has us over a barrel, hopefully he doesn't hardball us as much as we hardballed him.
We never hardballed him at all, he chose here over other teams and more money.

The chances he's signed in the next few months are still very high, no reason for him to move again when he's already the 1B, with a clear shot at 1A on a playoff team, and one of the best defensemen in the league in front of him half the game.

How is this remotely clear?

Even if Demko stays healthy, he's been awful this year and been cleanly outplayed by Lankinen. There is basically no chance Demko is a part of this organization after the end of his current contract.

Also, the majority of the teams currently above the Canucks in the standings already have their guy in net. I'm sure he'd be alright sticking to a team that has won a lot with him in the net (14-6-4), has one of the best players on the planet, and gives him the chance to be a pure starter.

Zibby is Swedish to boot. Could see it happening. He'd likely get along much better with Pettersson.

The more I think about it, if they can convince Miller to waive that's the route they'll go.

People glossed over the above exchange between Miller and Joshua, but this paints a pretty clear picture of a guy that goes above what is necessary to hold his teammates accountable...especially when he's not wearing the C.

I don’t think this is like Crosby at all.

3 to 4 Hours.

By the way, this leaves us with 10.8m in cap space (roughly, if i did it right) without Hog and Dumping Desharnais for a pick.

And the UFA Class is BRUTAL for Wingers and RHD this year. (Outside the superstars in marner/rant)
There is no "Debrusk" That i see, unless you wanna go older in kane.
Only guy i saw that is kinda young with talent in Debrusk area is maybe Ehlers? But that's not a good fit, and hes gonna still cost more.

So if you are adamant you wanna keep Brock, you basically have to trade a Top prospect + a 1st to find a young low cap great young RHD or Winger to play.

This is why I just can't see us keeping all 3, Petey, jt and brock
brock will for sure be traded if they dont come to an agreement on a contract. its gonna be 2 out of 3 out the door before next season starts .i can assure you that

Former players like Gadzic and Richardson, and Canucks management/coaches, seems to love the way Miller conduct himself and talk glowingly about it. I think it's a hockey culture thing, where yelling at each other, "showing emotions", etc are looked upon as great leadership and is how you hold guys accountable. I mean we had psychos like Keenan and Babcock coaching not too long ago, and some pretty shady characters like Messier and Toews hailed as some of the greatest leaders. While society came a long way with dealing with each other on a human level, I don't think hockey has kept up. This all bodes well for guys like JT but bad for players like Petey. If you are a skilled player but not one of those old school temperament, you really need the mental fortitude of the Sedins to survive in this culture.

I can see why Petey is isolated in the locker room and in the organization. I still think Petey has elite talent but more and more I think he needs a perfect environment (for him) to reach that level, and unfortunately it doesn't look like it is here, unless there are massive organizational changes.

Unfortunately, EP40 doesn't do himself any favours when he shuts down on the entire team for extended periods primarily because of his relationship with one teammate, including during a potential playoff run. I don't know if there is a perfect environment for him, but you're right, it certainly doesn't appear to be here. The same could be said for Miller, too.

So um... Lankinen? Any way we could convince you to sign for 900k again with promises of making it up to you in two years? See that OEL buyout we gotta deal with? It's all yours, plus the 900k. :D

That spitball offer at the end sucks, imo. We're essentially taking on two salary dumps in Cizikas and Engvall with term for a middling 1st and, admittedly, a good young RHD.

Long Island can figure out their cap problems with another team. I have zero interest in absorbing Engvall five year deal. And just for reference, Hoglander has as many points as Engvall and more than Cizikas. That's how bad their production has been.

You mean Miller don't you? 4 weeks
IMO there are 6 eastern team with reach of a WC spot only 5 points out.

I am pretty sure if a player the caliber of Pettersson and Miller was traded it will be to an eastern team so the Canucks fans don't have to see either more than once a year.

Some of those eastern teams are loaded with young players and prospects about to break out.

But it will be for what Tocchet wants, that means NO Euro's and NO players under 25 yrs old or less than 100 NHL games and over 6', if a dman then 6'2" (which I agree with as far as size for a dman)

Head coaches rarely are interested in training rookies, they are all about winning today, with Allvin he looks like he has the same mindset, win today at all costs and leave the future problems for the next GM.

I said 4m/4y in the GDT for Lankinen. I could say a pretty wide range of 4-5.5m and 4-5 years.
They could get 4mil if they sign him now, longer they wait higher his price probably goes.

Compare that to demko who's probably looking around 8mil with concerns about his health.

Could go lankinen and solid backup for the same price, or less than demko.

Very true. MTL has a pretty nice stable of prospects if they choose to go that route.

You've been here a lot longer than me but I was told yesterday that Kipper doesn't know shit. Lol.
