Grub's Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Go Your Own Way

This guy talks about how the Isles should target Boeser in a trade:

Mentions potentially Romanov for Boeser 1-for-1.

I'd do that deal.
it would be a no brainer except for the fact we'd have to sign romanov and milstein is his agent plus he has arbitration rights.

Take this with a grain of salt because it's Kypreos

"Everyone's got a right to change their minds and there could be more pressure points in various ways, but as of today, I'm told that Zibanejad does not want to go from the #NYR to the #Canucks." — @RealKyper on Real Kyper & Bourne pod

that is one way to save face for kypreos i guess. chuckle.

Isn’t Petey’s current injury an upper body one?
Maybe, but my point is mainly that an ACL tear is one of the worst injuries and athlete can suffer and anxiety of re-tearing it is very common, whereas anxiety over an injury that has kept you out of a few games is a very different issue.

While I agree that Spector is just stirring the pot, fear of re-tearing your ACL and being out 1 year + is quite different than fear associate with something like tendinitis. I’d classify the latter as mental illness (which is obviously also serious and a reasonable excuse to not play).
I was using the ACL reconstruction point as it has loads of data behind it - not a one to one for Petey's or anyone's injury in this case. At the end of the day, if the player does not feel confident for whatever reason (subjective is just as if not more important than objective data when it comes to pain/injury), then they're strictly not ready for return.
Fear of coming back from tendonitis or whatever is not a mental illness, it's a factor just like load acceptance. It's not like depression which has several components to it's definition.

For example - weight lifters that get runners knee will be incredibly hesitant to get back to heavy back squats because the sharp pain they experienced is easy to spiral from - visions of dropping the weight and fracturing the knee becomes a very real thing.

All this Bruins fiasco shows me is that the Canucks definitely have an internal problem to deal with or they would have handled this the same way weeks ago.

What do you think a pending UFA is going to get? I'd take Romanov over a magic bean 1st.

That being said, I think the goal has to be to re-sign Boeser. There's just nothing in free agency to replace him next season.
I'm one of Romanovs biggest fans on this board, hes a perfect fit on D. If you think allvin puts big cock brock otb and the best offer is Romanov straight up you're out to lunch, at subway.

Hating the Canucks and Oilers means he's a Canuck already.

Boeser scores well playing against tough competition. Just don't know where they're going to replace that.

Again, what do you think Boeser will return?

I'd bet money Brock is not a Canuck by the start of next season.

I think he's going to want a contract mgmt is unwilling to give and his speed does not align with how the team wants to play.

All along Romanov makes a lot of sense.

can play top 4, with Hughes, Hronrek and eventually Willander, 2LD is where we need a fit.

He moves well, ok puck mover, physical. He's not tall but listed at 220 and has a thrown some big hits that hurt - even when he was a Hab

13 playoffs games under his belt and if he can play and look decent on a NYI team that is very defensive minded, his defensive play with stand out a lot if not. According to a lot of Isles fans hes been steady defensively.

He's also quite young 2000 born and doesn't put up high offensive numbers so you can hopefully resign him at a reasonable cap.

IMO, it was always either him or Marcus Pettersson that would fit on our 2nd pairing.

It's funny to see the media, especially outside of BC go after us when enjoy success like we did last year.

The same assholes were totally MIA during the Benning years.
Dim Jim was part of their old boys club of dummies you could grab a beer with and yell, "shoot the puck" at the TV with. They also had the narrative of him being a prospect whispering "good guy", which explains all we need to know about their opinions on hockey matters.

I have very strong opinions about that entire tenure, what it did to these boards, and my part in that.

That's about all I have there.

I'm ok with Romanov as a target if the plan is to ultimately move on from Boeser, but for me the primary goal has to be getting Boeser re-signed at a reasonable rate and term first...for a team struggling to score goals, taking away your best winger isn't going to help that situation. If it's apparent we aren't in the same ballpark financially, then by all means explore the market for him.
