I’ve been saying this — Minnesota has the assets to part with and the desire to go for the cup and strike while their iron’s hot.

Miller/Boeser would be a great fit to bring them to the next level, and they have assets like Rossi/Jiricek/+ that are very juicy. Not saying there’s a clear deal, but it makes sense

I don't love him either, but I have a vision of Hughes-Power down the left side for like a decade. Not saying I'd do it, but it would get my attention versus most of these proposals.

I'd be open to it if they took back some bad salaries (and/or retain on Cozens) and maybe added a decent pick/prospect...not sure how you take on both without dropping more money. I think Cozens is a decent reclamation project, but i wouldn't be interested in paying a really high valuation on him.

I don't understand how a deal with the Wild would work at all. The Canucks would have to take salary back, and basically everyone in MIN is signed for term with an NMC or is an untouchable like Kaprizov or Boldy.

He’s a good player but on a bit of a PDO bender this year so you’d be buying high and will be 24 to start next season so is probably starting to reach his ceiling. Not good enough to be the centrepiece for a Pettersson deal, and I can’t imagine the team would be thrilled at being so small down the middle if they trade Miller for him.

Getting one of those two would be remarkable from Dallas. Johnston himself is arguably worth more than EP after his strong playoff performance.

Pull the trigger on what exactly? Every GM in the league knows they're desperate, they'll get bent over if they try to force anything.

The situation is bad, and it's of their making. It is however what they're stuck with, and sometimes not making things worse and being patient is the best play.

it's massively in the canuck's interest to figure out boeser and then know their cap situation next year before they make a big trade. if boeser is gone they have a lot more cap flexibility to do multi-player trades.

so silence to me seems important, although i am not sure what it signifies.

The Boeser situation is very similar what happened with Horvat. Mgmt came straight out and said they won't let high value UFA's walk without getting assets back at the deadline.

The irony of Allvin's statement is that he hasn't set the team up for a cup win. Yet, he's calling out the sub-standard performance of another.
