Looking at his history, and a 3 year old article on CanucksArmy, looks like Steve Werier was a lawyer for the team. I’ll guess that he was more on the contract side and had a role similar to Chris Gear.

This isn’t a positive.

That PJ article is embarrassing, and I normally like the guy.

The real interesting tidbit in that piece IMO is the bit about the empty seats. All of this rift talk feels manufactured because general interest in the Canucks is lacking. And a lot of it probably is because times are tough, but sports are going through a bit of a reckoning I think (look at the NBA and the ratings plummet) with so many other forms of entertainment being available 24/7.

Capturing attention is hard, and the only way these guys can seem to do it is by creating a soap opera around a volatile team.
Totally disagree. How is it manufactured when several different credible reporters have come out with varying bits of info confirming the issues?

Even Hughes and Tochett confirmed it when asked.

The interest in the team is lacking because they’ve sucked at home and are very boring to watch.

This whole “the media is the problem” narrative is the only embarrassment I’ve seen. These guys are millionaires and have it easy compared to 15-20 years ago without travelling media. 99% of the time they get soft ball questions.
