Only 14 months ago he was actively in trade rumors and some thought the Canucks may have to pay to move him.

They were ready to move on from him not that long ago. I’ve long believed that Rutherford was not enamored by having a small winger like him in his middle-six. I would not be shocked if management figured his improved play is just good fortune that makes him a more tradable asset now than what he was at the start of last season.

14 months is a long time and that was well before Rutherford/Allvin had a good understanding of the team. They were just looking at any avenue to free up cap space and readily admitted it. I'd go so far as to say Garland is among our untouchables barring a silly offer, and will be high on their list to re-sign.

And damn, Kappo went for practically nothing unless Borgen is better than I realize. Bit disappointed we couldn't match but I guess they want to focus all money on defense.

I really liked

Try not and look at a versatile player moving around the line up during injuries/road trips/not having Josh, as being demoted. When he returns to his natural place on this team, it's not punishment. It's a coaches decision based on needs and players available.

RT really likes what Garland brings. After Garland's rough start for the first month last season, fans were still shitting on him for weeks even though RT was telling us he really liked how he was playing. It took fans another month to figure out what the coach was talking about.

The results are not great with Van's top 6 centers.

theres way too much smoke. alvin and rutherford will probbaly make a trade during the game or aafter when its done and announce it tmr morning is my guess. hoglander+mynio for a dman. deharnais to someone for a 5th

I looked at the link. It's all based on a couple of months with injuries to very key players, lots of line juggling because of it, and with players who have taken turns struggling and that includes the two guys he's being analyzed with.

If any scout/GM looks at that breakdown and applies zero context, they are going to make terrible mistakes.

You could also watch games and see that he's never able to stick with a top 6 center on the Canucks either for years. That's fine and on most teams he'd be a regular with a different top 6 center but he's Horvat, useful just to another team and not this one the way they are set up. He has been a very consistent player this season. He has had to be to have results similar to other top 6 guys that have struggled.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kaako ended up heating up a bit in Seattle. He always seemed to get the shaft a bit in NY.

Usually young guys with the pedigree end up commanding a bit more of a return. Borgen is solid, but the draft picks are kind of meh.

I wonder how long Drury lasts in the Big Apple.

I like Will Borgan but he never made sense once the Canuckz committed to Tyler Myers on the right side. They have Hronek there plus 'Willander is Coming.'

But hey maybe that puts the Rangers into position to trade another D.

I also doubt we had a piece to offer that was as attractive as Kaako to acquire Borgen.

Not really a fan of most the trade suggestions. We have Lekk and 3 - 4 Dmen in the pipeline, and let's be patient for a change and garner some cap space. I think Lekk and Will are locks next season. EP2 isn't far away. Going to be a crowded blue line in a couple of years.

I do find it quite interesting that the Canucks called up PDG and Karlsson so they would have 14 forwards and 7 defencemen for the road trip. They've typically worked with 13 forwards and 8 defencemen. Could be absolutely nothing other than there are more forwards sick with the flu than defencemen or they just wanted to get those two up with the big club for a couple of days. Could also be protecting themselves in-case something does happen tomorrow.
