I just don't see it with the Bruins, but if it's the Rangers, KA Miller would seem to be a better fit than Schneider as a potential D coming this way.

The Bruins and Stars don’t really make sense to me unless it’s as a third party somehow. Dallas has good future assets, but I don’t think it’s a good look for the Canucks to Hughes et al if they sell a guy like Miller for things that may help a few years from now. And Boston’s just got too much meh.

New Jersey, to me, has the most appealing things to offer - and I think NYR would be second.

His puck skills and transition game pop for a big guy but he's soft as butter and goals bleed in when he's on the ice, even in very soft minutes. Defensive fundamentals are not great.
I've thought the same thing whenever I've watched the Bruins. Obvious raw talent but at this point he's a guy you'd have to shelter on your 3rd pair, and can't really use on the PK.

I think what is likely holding up a trade is finding a third party to flip the futures they’d get from a Rangers/Stars/Bruins etc trade for a roster player they want (center/D) in a simultaneous move. Like a Hronek style flip.

Dallas has some NHL ready pieces IF they are willing to move. Something like JT for Johnson would be a clear upgrade for them in the present. Dallas has been knocking on that door for a while and really should think about making some win now moves, IMO. With Seguin on LTIR and Benn off the books next year, the timing is perfect.

Couple things I've wanted to ask but always forget:

Why does our board close threads after 1k? I see much longer threads in other subs.

Why do the Twitter posts you link sometimes not load on mobile?

Thanks :D

1) It’s a hold over from old site rules. The forum used to struggle when threads got too long. I just followed Mr. C’s example of starting a new thread. It does provide a useful excuse for closing threads and starting fresh. With the site getting nuked, we’ve been asked to bring the practice back for a little while.

2) When Twitter changed to X, it messed up the coding and links. I was manually changing every X link to say Twitter until the last few days.

Also means threadbans aren’t eternal

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised by the value we’ll get back from the Miller trade. Allvin seems to be drumming up a real bidding war. Not often a unicorn like Miller becomes available.

Where did this EP statement originate? Which Rogers or team employee or dependent contractor said that?AH, I see, third hand form the Canuck front office.
the 26-year-old Swede indicated to the Canucks’ front office
Hardly Pettersson saying anything, the front office when asked it Pettersson wanted a trade the answer would be, he has indicated he wants to stay. Indicated, not said that is a big difference. I like Vancouver could be an indication, I like fishing in False creek could be an indication, I like the Grouse grind are all indications that could have a" BUT" attached.

What in the name of the owned media are you talking about?

I'll be honest, I figured there was zero chance we get an asset like that back for JT.. But that report out of NY that Laf was close to moving is making me question that a bit.

WJ ain't happening though.

Jerry the great said:
He doesn't have anywhere near the offensive talent as Boeser though. Boeser had almost 2x the number of PP points in his first season (when he led the team in scoring as a rookie) than Lafreneire has had in his career to date. Yes. And other than when he's been stapled to Panarin and Trocheck he's looked pretty average. IMO.

If Lafreniere hadn't been 1OA, nobody would be clamoring for him like they do.

Great point. I'm weary of Lafreniere for similar reasons: His pedigree doesn't match his performance.

That said, he could be the best player offered to this point.

Make the deal bigger by including Borgen maybe.

Kaako is near PPG since leaving NYR, so that could signal a bad environment. Something to keep in mind.

Let's see, any show on Rogers radio, between periods where payments are made to entertainers, any social media dependent upon access where the team revokes press passes, Donny and Dhali, Dhali pointed that out when he stated on air, "we have to be careful, we don't want to get into trouble again" while discussing the Canucks. Employee's of Rogers or the team. Imac, Murphy on air a lot during games or allowed to travel with the team. Even Farhan Lalji who works for TSN has to be careful or get his credentials revoked.

Roger's own all Canadian broadcast rights of the NHL in Canada, there are some exceptions due to previous contracts that they dare not challenge but that is why there are no TSN radio stations in western Canada and they only have public insights.

Spitten Chicklets is totally independent and US based, US laws prevent monopolies but not in Canada. The NHL and Rogers will not interfere with some teams because is it ever went to court they would lose. Only if it goes to court will any Canadian laws be evoked.

Only one sports radio station in the 3rd largest city in Canada, ever wonder why?

I’d bet money that almost everyone who leaves NY will play better elsewhere.

Personally I'm wary of Lafreniere as well, though not weary of the speculation.

Don't mind Lafreniere, no injury history, decent cap hit, fits well with the age of the Canucks (2 years younger than Hughes), and he had a really good playoff run last year. Looking at Kakko and how he's playing away from New York, I think I would be satisfied with something around Lafreniere + picks (to be flipped for players).

Maybe they can even try a punt at putting him as a center and see what happens. If it works and he has a resurgence then it'll be good in the long run for the team.
