Groups 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

Don't expect another strong team Canada next year. While we can't predict what teams will miss the playoffs (or be out in the first round) we usually don't send over a very strong team. This year was the exception.

Plus, with the elite players probably tagged to play in the World Cup in September I am sure they will want to rest as soon as the regular season is over. I don't know if this will impact the Euro teams much but it will definitely impact Canada and the US.

It's just an idea to cut down on the lopsided scores.

Who cares about the top nations? It's more entertaining seeing new countries and lesser known hockey nations than seeing "the big countries" playing against each other. Hell, Canada smacked Russia, and their closest game came against France.

When playing against a top team like Canada why not just say Canada must play with one skater less? This would only apply to teams ranked 10 and lower.

For example, Canada just beat Germany 10-0. If you played the entire game with Germany having a 5 on 4 advantage the score would have been a lot closer.

Because that is not hockey.

I cannot imagine how ugly Canada vs. Hungary will be:

if CAN dogs the third period 10-0
if not.......14-0

I think we ice another strong team next year, and the reason why I think that is because of the World Cup.

In 2009, the last time Hungary was in the top group, Canada beat them 9-0, outshooting the Hungarians 51-16.
