The 4th ranked team in the world should definitely have an easy time vs the 34th and 73rd ranked team, yes.

Even if fifa ranks are flawed, the much better world ELO rankings are similar.
I agree fully with your premise that England is going to smash both teams.

I just want to assert that I think the ELO rankings are even worse than the FIFA world rankings. After the USA beat Paraguay they moved up enough spots to be in a tie for 27th...with Paraguay. And Ecuador fell from 9th to 12th, while Cote D'Ivoire rose from 49th to 37th...after Cote D'Ivoire beat Ecuador.

I'm aware that no ranking system is perfect but the basic premise of the ELO rankings is to overweight UEFA and CONMEBOL results, and I think this tournament is showing that there's more global parity than that.

This entire game was basically a shitpost

Ok never mind it was actually awesome now

He probably means in terms of how even it was in which case, yeah fair enough there was no one team really establishing themselves and it had a bit of end-to-end.

But that doesn't make it the best of the tournament. I think it was one of the poorer games just because the quality of both teams was SO BAD. The decision making, the touches, the finishing/passing....all of it was awful.

I do think they realized late in the game though that they both needed a win because a draw wouldn't be good enough with England/Croatia being their next games so they opened it up. If they drew there's a good chance they'd both be going out. As it stands, Ghana probably still have a decent chance of going on and will play some haramball in the next two matches.
