Goal difference isn't the first tiebreaker in groups, but it's the first tiebreaker in 3rd place comparisons though
Right, but given the group dynamics, unless you think Jordan will beat Argentina and Algeria, the question is who would finish ahead of one another if Algeria and Austria tie in the last match, assuming Algeria beats Jordan.

Worrying trend for Messi, 3 goals in the first match, 2 in second, which projects to only 1 in the last GS match and none in the knockout match. :sarcasm:

Edit: Didn't see the post above mine, when I wrote this.

Postgame on TSN is talking about how Messi is all about the team and Ronaldo isn't.

Ronaldo has no self-awareness and doesn't realize how badly he is hurting his legacy by trying to hang on to the spotlight despite being washed-up.

As a football fan it's a privilige to get to watch this 39-year old Messi, it's like bonus time. He's no longer quite the player he once was, but he's still incredible and at this stage he has nothing left to prove, he just seems so relaxed and happy to play and brings only good vibes to the whole team.
I mean, so far, he looks like he could still be a top player in a top league if he wanted to. Guy has 5 goals in 2 games and could have more

I just realized that the best way to troll Ronaldo is to say "are you Lionel messi" when meeting him in person

Remember when some were saying that Messi was going to hold this team back? :D

I don't think that's ever going to happen with him, there's no ego there that needs constant stroking. If it ever gets to a point where he potentially could be a detriment, I think he'll no longer join the national team or if he does it will be in a reduced role where it won't be an issue.

Still the best player on the planet :D
