This is at noon Eastern, taking place in Atlanta.

I don't know how anyone can sell tickets to a game like this but I assume the stadium will be full because Yamal. It's not like Cape Verde is a bad team or something but they have absolutely no chance here.

Similarly to Curaçao I think Cape Verde isn’t just happy to be here, but Spain is still a tall task. 4-1

I remember a confederations cup game where Spain beat the living shit out of Tahiti. 10-0 but Spain could have scored way more of they wanted to.

This might be similar.

I don't expect them to get anything against Spain, but Cape Verde are the 'minnows' I think can do the best in the group stage. I can see them potentially coming out with 4 points. They can beat Saudi Arabia, and a draw against Uruguay isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Not a chance. Cape Verde are not some Oceania-tier team, they topped a group including Cameroon.

Mind you, they can definitely still get blown out, but it won't be a historic defeat.

This could probably range anywhere from 1-0 Spain to a lion playing with their food.

I'm going to guess 1-0 Spain in a game that isn't nearly as close as the score indicates. Maybe 2-0.

Will Spain vs. Cape Verde be like Team USA vs. Trinidad and Tobago at the Junior Goodwill Games as seen on Mighty Ducks 2?

This won't be as bad as the Germany beatdown was
Exactly. It's difficult to see where the goals are coming from with Yamal playing on one leg and Nico coming off a down year. Also the substitute wingers Pino and Muñoz are meh. I expect Spain to go far because I've learned not to doubt the team spirit installed by de la Fuente but I don't see them score 7 against anyone.

Both Yamal and Nico on the bench today. 2 strikers, Ferran and Oyarzabal, Pedri behind them, with Rodri, Gavi and Fabian in midfield. Yeah we're not scoring 7 today 😅

Cape Verde are a pot 2 (of 6) team in CAF. That's pretty decent.

Also CAF had 9 qualifying spots.....Nigeria/Mali/Cameroon failing to qualify is on them.

With that said, Spain need to establish a big GD then try to rest players in their 3rd group stage match.

The teams playing between today/Wednesday have a disadvantage because they'll have a smaller gap between their 2nd & 3rd group stage matches, only around like 4 days I think.

Just dropped a small bet on the over 2.5 first half goals Spain. Cape Verde starting a goalkeeper who is not their best goalkeeper, he’s not even their second best goalkeeper, he’s going to be a sieve and let in easy goals.

So we have Spain playing their most toothless 11 & CV playing their most inept keeper…this could be a real movable object vs stoppable force situation.
