I think players who want to continue using slurs will become more sophisticated and while they cover their mouths they’ll duck or turn their heads in a way that emulates a cough or a sneeze.

I am guessing he did not know existed. You'd be surprised how often players just do not pay attention to that sort of stuff, many guys in all sports are unaware of some rules that exist
