Yeah but outside of Hakimi and Diaz, how many of them have star power? Maybe Bono a little bit but that's it. They have a bunch of excellent players (guys like Saibari who's going to Bayern so might get a bit more renown, El Khannous and Bouaddi, etc.) but not major names to EPL watchers.

You don't need 11 stars plus they're playing Scotland. Scotland have SFPL players starting....

Bouaddi is an absolute monster.

Scotland is arguably Europe's most popular national team cheered for by people not actually from there or associated with the country. It's also never won anything or is at any risk of winning anything in the future. Probably two not unrelated facts.

Ireland is also very high on that list.

So why is he in the USA? They wouldn't let that ref from Somalia in.
He hasn’t been charged yet, but he’s going to be, and I think unless convicted he’d be allowed to be here anyway

I was thinking that too, although Ireland has a pretty large diaspora, which could qualify as "associated with Ireland" in some way.

I was in Dublin for work last year and Americans/Canadians coming over and asking questions to locals about their last names and going on easter egg hunts about their background is a source of great amusement to them. They think it's the silliest shit on the planet.

I should go to China and do the same thing, since it's not like my Chinese family name is the second-most common family name on the mainland or anything. :sarcasm:

(I also know exactly where my extended family lives, and it's... not in China.)

I think he has been charged and the update is that he'll be forced to stand trial. I don't know for sure, though. The second part of your statement is accurate, to an extent. It could be a reason to keep him out of the country if so desired. Probably didn't hurt that he was already in the country when the news dropped.

Worst first half performance from any team at this tournament.

Clarke set them up to play for a draw, as he always does, and clearly has no back up plan. Too afraid to show a little ambition and go for it and it doesn't even matter because a player that should never be selected (but is one of his favourites) can't deal with a simple ball over the top and they're behind in a minute.

The sum of his ambition is making the group stages and parking the bus.

Somehow i've managed to sleep through both of the US games so far in this tourney and they're the only team who's game i've not seen live yet this WC, lmao.

Scotland seems to be just hanging on for dear life here

That's more than me. I've rearranged my day to make sure I've caught both USA games, and while I've watched probably at least half of the matches so far, I don't rearrange my schedule to make sure I'm free for them (I just usually happen to be anyway).
