Also, I was thinking back on our worst lost recruitments.

I think if you asked Ivorian fans, particularly in recent memory, they would say Desire Doue. Which is funny, A. I don't think that recruitment was ever particularly close, but B. I just didn't personally care much because his position was the furthest from a position of need. But that one was very bitter for a lot of fans.

For me personally, this will be a big time throwback but Tiemoue Bakayoko. We had just retired Yaya Toure and Serey Die. Franck Kessie and Ibra Sangare were super young so we weren't sure what we had in them. There was a huge gap in the midfield.

It turned out to be ok because Kessie and Sangare became good players, and we got our plan B in Seko Fofana. But I remember that recruitment a lot. At the end of the day though, he loved France. And that's not a bad thing.
