GDT: Group B - May 14 - Italy vs Latvia

70 shouldn't cut it for the top divison record (Swiss had 61 vs Italy just a few days ago and we've had all sorts of Hungaries, Koreas, Japans etc over the recent years alone). Bernard might have a shot for most saves in a game, though, if we keep it up this way.

We can easily score a few more, they are absolutely terrible.

We missed an empty net twice already. It should've been 5-0 by now and the Italians are becoming progressively more tired and hopeless.
 
I love the Latvians, but I have developed a serious hockey crush on Andreas Bernard as this game has gone along.

I sort of followed their games, and I've been watching IHWC for over 20 years. Never have I seen 70 shots on goal.

Wr have 52 after 2 periods
 
Bluegers faceoff percentage in this game is ridicilious. If hes at the dot, its pretty much guaranteed he will win.
 
At the same time, Hartley's teams are kind of known to throw everything at the net and letting goalies farm saves. They were the main contributors to not 1 but 2 Metsola's records this year as well. Might as well give Bernard one.
 
Atleast 48 of these shots have been utterly useless lol. Like seriously, looking at protocol, you would think Bernard would be standing on his head, but he really isnt. We either shoot straight at him or pass ourselves out of a high percentage shot.

On the other end of the ice I have mini-heartattack everytime puck heads towards Gudlevskis.

Yeah i think our players have take the advice of "keeping it simple" way too literally. We are obviously good enough to just outplay them.
 
Hartley should be absolutley furious after the game. Most guys couldnt hit the broad side of the barn today, what a joke.
 
Cant wait for the day when we dont have to ice mediocrites/ career joruneymen/ ECHL-ers at best. Players like Bičevskis, Batņa, Dzierkals, Ģēģeris, Meija are just straight up trash. They are so trash infact, they look like shit even against ITALY. :eyeroll: Thats what years of mismanagment looks like.

The only good news for Italy is that Bernard is gonna earn a new contract for the next season.
 
Seeing both teams, it is clear that AUT is the heavy favourite vs ITA.
 
IIRC Italy has been at the top level on a couple of occasions when there were only 8 countries in the elite division.

On the other hand, so have countries such as the Netherlands and Romania.
