The last time Latvia faced Italy we only beat them 2-1. And that was 2 years ago. We scored the GWG in the 59th minute.

Historically we've had a bunch of upset losses against Italy and ever since 1997 I'm a bit cautious when it comes to them.

We didn't have Balcers, Darzins and Blueger only had some limited 4th line minutes back in 2017, but this game can also get painfully close if we don't get an early lead and a couple of 1st period goals.

Ideally, we should score at least 4 or 5 and gel our new Abols-less lines together. And no injuries please.

Italy has been terrible but it is not unthinkable at all that they can beat Austria and/or Norway and avoid relegation.

For Latvia this is a must win game or they can wave byebye to the QFs.
