Looking at the standings, USA shouldn't take France lightly. France is currently in a playoff spot, the US isn't.

But the US have already faced Canada and Finland while France has to...

Getting a point today would give France a chance to reach the quarter finals though. A regulation win in the deciding game against Belarus would probably be enough to sneak in then.

Considering all the injuries, it would be a great achievement, but we are still far from there...

Except Finland was actually generating quality chances but were facing a hot goalie. The US hasn't done much of anything.

The USA roster is pretty embarrassing so it doesn't surprise me that they are having trouble generating much/having difficulty defensively. I wonder why the USA team has trouble convincing players to come play in this tournament? I recall the team being quite good when we hosted the tournament here back in 2008. Perhaps that was because they didn't have to cross an ocean to play?

Whenever I see the WHC I'm reminded of why the NHL doesn't want IIHF refs anywhere near best-on-best games.

The linesmen are a little sketchy too. More blown offsides calls and not the best at getting out of the way. One had a good takedown of Larkin earlier.

Good Lord, that Auston Matthews play where he looked like Forsberg just protecting the puck and dishing it to Murph- WOOOOO!
