Never stopped him before, from playing against and with elite players

Yeah I actually like Stone with McDavid and Hall, he's good on those board battles. This could be a lethal line.

Plus, Maroon played awesome with McDavid. It's almost like McDavid needs a big, strong winger who can win those puck battles down low and has a good release on his shot. Stone might be a great linemate for him.

Canada has a great team. But you Canadians seem to really forget that Germany is a team that in fact relatively often has given your national team problems. So I'm not that surprised how this game has gone so far. But Canada should still win in the end. The real surprise for me has so far been that McDavid has not been at all impressive in this tournament. I thought he was a generational talent. But now after what I have seen from him in this tournament I have to say that there's no way for me to see him as a generational talent.

With McDavids skating he should dominate in the bigger rink. And he has very good linemates and has been playing against mostly weaker teams so far. He makes way too many hasty decisions and loses the puck too much because of it. Also he hasn't really so far showed much of the special skills that he has been praised for in the NHL. I'm also starting to think what is going on with this boy? I hope he will pick it up soon though. But please not against Finland. :help:

I dunno man...His vision...the way he pivots and wheels around with the puck on his stick...looks very very elite to me...plus the things he can do at speed...no other team Canada player can do...not even Duchene...

This kid is a generational talent for sure...Mark my words...the points/goals will come! Geeze Luise he had close to the top ppg in the NHL this year... Some nice set ups to Hall too...

Good game, result turned out to be a little higher than it looked after two periods.
Still, best effort i've seen from Germany in years. :handclap:

Stone is also a very good playmaker that we all know as one of the biggest puck thief,I think there could be some good ,opportunities .For him to pass those steals to two lethal snipers there

Germans should be proud, they played with heart all game. They could have easily been leading after the 2nd period.

I can see that line staying together for next game. The chemistry between McDavid and Hall is clearly there (funny because they didn't play on the same line in the NHL).

Stone is perfect as the other winger with his puck stealing skills and excellent shot. His size and release all benefit that line.

I only saw the bulk of the second period and parts of the third. Obviously the defencemen need to be better, they looked lost. Good to get a game like that out of their systems.

I'm happy with the effort and result, although it would've been nice so see McD & Hall clicking AFTER the game vs. Germany. ;)

You could really put anyone there and it would still be the best line in the tourney:laugh:

Very good game by Germany, but they often play good against Canada.

I really enjoyed watching this game!

Can't remember a Canadian team look so joyless. It wasn't until the third goal (Hall's second) that I saw anyone on that bench crack a smile. C'mon fellas, have a little fun out there.

It's fun when ur playing well...it's not when ur not. I dunno why the guys looked so listless, playing seemingly with their heads up their butts over the first forty...All credit to Germany...BUT that was a pale imitation of TC...maybe those insinuations some may have been partying too much -- albeit with only circumstantial evidence -- aren't so far from the mark?

Or maybe, for no particular reason, they just couldn't get it going till the 3rd? Long tourney...It happens...bound to have an off game...

Fortuitously, no damage done...

But they've been joyless all tournament. I don't want them to rub the Hungarians noses in it when they're beating the tar out of them, but it's okay to smile when you've done a good thing.

It's the lack of enthusiasm that makes me most worried about the overall success of this team. Maybe I'm wrong, but teams that have had success over what is a pretty long tournament have been teams that are genuinely enjoying themselves. These guys don't look like they are.

Team needs a healthy Scheifele on the bench :)
Watch around 30 seconds in lol

I just hope that they continue to play well tomorrow as well. Germany often had the problem of putting in a great performance against one of the big nations - without getting anything out of it - and then look completely flat the next day against the direct competition.

A win tomorrow would give the team a great shot at making the quarterfinals.

Very good shot at making the Quarters.

Not sure what people are complaining about, this was pretty much the type of game Canada will play for now on in the tournament. No more easy games...

They've been coasting, making 'soft' plays a lot the past few games. It's not very surprising that a German team with some talent could make it look close for a while.

This game was a good wake-up call after 2 gimme games.

Isn't Stone a tad slow to be playing will Hall and McD?

Stone makes up for it with his IQ. He has been productive with everyone he has played with in his Sens career, including Mike Hoffman (who certainly has wheels).
