You're always saying that, but somehow we end up losing to those you call weak. Remember game against Russia?

I mean we have played decently with the black hole formerly known as our defence, a few lucky bounces and we would probably be with 6 points not 2

Will Popovic leave with MÃ¥rts? if so that will sucks kinda like him... he is lik a big teddy bear:laugh:!

What is it with Oilers and ruining prospects? I seriously worry about guys like McDavid and Dreisatl.

:biglaugh:

Yeah like they ruined Hall? Team Canada Olympic calibre winger.
RNH? Highest PPG from his draft year.
Eberle? He's netted over 30 goals in a season.

Not the Oilers fault Yak was a bust. The problem in Edmonton has been the supporting case, not the high draft picks. But keep hating.

They also ruined Paajarvi.

And the team goes nowhere despite all the raw talent in the world.

What's to say that those players you mention wouldn't have been better if they weren't stuck in Edmonton?

I really hope that Omark gives the NHL one more shot before he's too old.

He should be a UFA by now, right?

Omark does not look like an NHL player to me. He'd have a hard time cracking any lineup in that league.

They have had literally the worst D core in the NHL for the past 10 years. Therein lies the problem, not Hall and RNH.

Paajarvi had 9 points this year for the Blues :dunno:. Either the Oilers ruined him, or a more simple explanation exists that he's just not good enough for the NHL.

No clue about Omark, the NHL is a tough league. Some guys just can't hack it.

Both Klasen and him have looked better so far then most of the NHL player that shows up for whc. No matter if they succed in NHL or not they are better than most there, maybe their playstyle do not simple match. Hockey on small ice is very different after all.

This. The NA style game is much different.

If this was always the case then the same players would struggle in the AHL and the style that's being played there.

The main difference is the competition is weaker in the WC than in the NHL. Put Omark and Crosby in a pee wee game and Omark would dominate just as much as Crosby would.

Omark has great skill, but he lacks in many other departments. Doing fancy stuff isn't always the smart thing. Guys like Backlund and Wennberg have better hands than one would think, they just don't show it as often as Omark or Klasen. Nyquist does things at a higher speed and knows when to be fancy and when to keep it simple.

Basically every top six forward in the NHL are better at hockey than Omark, and that's why he isn't in the NHL currently.

About Omark. You can be a good player and not "hack it" anyway, because you don't fit in simply put. Maybe Omark didn't fit in Edmonton (who is...?), or maybe he didn't fit the western conference or maybe he did not fit in NA ice hockey at all.

He is still a good hockey player.

Good point about the western conference, some guys style just don't fit the small ice and aggressive dump and chase style of game. Nothing wrong with that.

Some guys skills are just better suited for European size ice with more size and space to work with. Nigel Dawes is an example of a player excelling on Euro ice.

Honestly, the way size and space is closed off so fast now in todays NHL I would almost rather the NHL played on international sized ice in some ways.
