This is why back to back's make no sense. IIHF needs to even out the schedule, makes absolutely no sense to have teams play back to back against other rested teams in a 4 game preliminary round.

I'm not sure if that's even possible, not for all the teams anyway. Biggest disadvantage is to start the tournament with a rest day(Denmark & Slovakia), for the rest it's much of the same.

That would pretty much require 6 team groups though. Or just a longer tournament, which would be quite a bit more expensive.

Or just have back to backs when both teams are playing back to back. Not while one is rested, which doesn't apply to this case but is still an issue in general.

That said, how long until the U.S. starts the "Fire Wilson" chants?

The USA are the last team that should complain about back-to backs.

Their back-to-back matches are against the worst teams in the group and they play against a team also playing back-to-back.

When they played Switzerland the Swiss had played the day before as well.

The team that is worst of is Sweden since they don't have any games against a team that played the day before and Denmark since they play back-to-back two times.

That's simply not possible with an odd number of teams in a group.

Day 1 four teams will play, while the fifth has to sit out.
Day 2 one of the four teams will need to play a back-to-back game against that fifth team, who is yet to play a single match.

It's obviously ******, but it really can't be helped with five-team groups.

The person who raised the issue of back to back games has a Canadian flag logo.
The person who pointed out that both Swiss and US teams had back to backs coming into their game against each other was also Canadian.

Nobody in this thread from the US is complaining about back to backs.
That kind of goes for Canada too.

Fair enough. Didn't see the logo since I'm on my phone.

But the original poster raises the issue after Denmark score and says that "this" is why there shouldn't be B2B games.

My point is that the USA playing badly today can't be blamed on B2B games.

been stuck at work all week.....who would you compare their games to?

Hmmm, Provorov is more developed, especially his defensive play compared to Werenski. Provorov is better all around defenseman. He's very smart and looks really calm. Probably higher offensive upside for Werenski.

I'd say: Provorov (Giordano, a bit of Doughty), Werenski (Yandle, J. Johnson)

You mean 2nd?

Denmark winning and Canada losing in regulation would make Canada fourth.

But yeah, the more likely scenerio is Canada finishing 3rd.

I take it head to head is the first tiebreaker? cause they keep saying US can't get first even if Sweden loses and ends up with a weaker Goal differential.
