Scottie Upshall. Got an assist in the game where Jiri Fischer suffered a cardiac arrest, and had that assist re-credited to him at 0:00 of the makeup game, which does not appear to have dressed for.

no assist in boxscore or player games list.

I wonder if that's ever happened in the NHL. That is, has a guy ever been credited with a point in a game wasn't dressed for? Wouldn't surprise me.

Weird, hockey reference has an assist for Upshall on Johnson's goal, and while the NHL does have that goal associated with that game, Upshall isn't listed as having an assist. For further weirdness, Upshall's scoring log for 2006 on hockey reference shows 8 goals, 16 assists and 24 points, but his overview page only shows 8-15-23, which is what the NHL has.

Perhaps him missing the January 23 game wiped out his original assist in some places? Anyone have anything more on this?

For what its worth, hockeydb ad elite prospects both have Upshall at 24 points, and I'm seeing a number of articles about Horton's goal that mention Upshall's assist.
My thinking is that it did happen, but certain rules or database quirks case it not to count in some places, though I wouldn't b able to tell you what those would be.

It's very strange, isn't it? My first thought was that it might have something to do with data gathered before and after the 2017 release of 100 years if game logs, but Horton's was in 2014 so that isn't it.

Edit: I notice you found your results by comparing scorers and scratches. Upshall wasn't a scratch in the January 23rd game, he had been sent down to the AHL. So that explains half the question, though not why some sources don't record the assist.
