Predicting the Jackets will lead the league in penalties and suspensions here on out. :sarcasm:

His agent said he doesn't want to play in the AHL because it would take the spot of a prospect trying to make the NHL.

So...he's either being a good guy, or trying to look good.

Then he should just retire. And if he was on any NHL roster he would be taking a spot from a more deserving younger player so to me that's the agent TRYING to make him look good.

How can anyone like this guy? He is given so many opportunities that he doesn't earn, just like his little gig as an analyst last year on NBCSN where he was absolutely terrible.

What a jerk

Sorry if this is a stupid question or has been answer, but does he still get paid if he refuses to report?

No, he is not. Before he actually reports to AHL or traded to another team he will lose money every day. The situation is actually the best possible outcome for CBJ, this is why the assholish reactions here are stupid on an extra level.

Except he was also part of the texting with Wideman in the whole "it's all the stupid refs unions fault that I smashed a linesman and ended his career." Given the way the refs targeted Wideman to start the season, the whole bonus of having Campbell may not hold true anymore. :p

That is because Widemen isn't his kid.

Aside from him not being the player he was, there is no need to bash the guy. He isn't taking a spot, not getting paid, and not forcing anything on Columbus. He stood on his own with his play. Guy had a big heart and tried his hardest out there. His father didn't get him a spot on any team.

And now he's having a temper tantrum

So he's trying to help a player make the NHL... by taking up a spot in the NHL...? :help:

I've always had an irrational hatred of Campbell for two reasons..

1 - His Dad is/was a jerk-off
2 - Going by Gregory in stead of Greg

It makes me think of when Pierre unnecessarily says KRISTOPHER Letang. Anyone that makes me think of Pierre is on my ****-list.

I've really only ever been called by my full name when I'm in trouble or when it's for handling a legal/important matter. So I kind of get what you mean, I don't like being called by it.

Care to outline these for anyone?

I don't think people understand how hard it is for a guy who has 1000 career pro games under his belt to pack it in when he's 32 and say "yup okay bye NHL, I'm going to go ride buses for the next 5 years with some 20 year olds."

The best players should play and if he doesn't make the cut then oh well. But I don't blame the guy for trying to save his career.

Can he still kill penalties effectively?

Id give up Lander for him straight across.

Edit: Actually nevermind, not at that cap hit for this year and next.

He's only signed for this season...

The Jackets probably don't want to take a contract back, even if it is for an AHL player. I'd move him for a 7th rounder.

Thing is... he's not? (Unless suspended players count as active roster players)

He's suspended.

Not taking a spot of anyone in the NHL or the AHL. He's not getting paid.

All reports on Greg Campbell, he's been a great guy on and off the ice. Suspending him is the right course of action. If he doesn't get moved, he'll likely retire, which is what it looks like.

You know what I mean. He's trying to say he should be in the NHL... in order to help a prospect make the NHL.
