Not going to complain about a 2nd (even if its in 2021) for Greene, he’s been a loyal servant to our team through some pretty bleak years but he’s been dreadful for a while (in part due to our lack of options & over-reliance has on him).

It was time to cut the cord on him, both as a player and as our captain. Appreciate all he did for his sake i’m glad he’s going to a comfortable and familiar spot. Hopefully gets a crack at the cup with the Islanders.

Glad to see Fitzgerald starting off strong and making a move that needed to be made, gives me some confidence in the direction of the team.

Any overview on Quenneville?

isles fan coming in peace. He’s small at 5’8 but he’s built solid. He has a booming slap shot and he plays like a maniac. He plays like he’s 6’5. Mostly been in the AHL and ECHL but the isles have a lot of defenseman in the AHL. He may never make it to the NHL but if he did I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a #6-7 guy.

How about Greene? Can he help the isles this year?

2021 or not a 2nd for Greene is solid. Don't have hopes for Q but oh well, maybe he can help Bing

The second alone for a 36-37 UFA is amazing. Getting a prospect is just a free gift

Greene is still a solid PKer and won't hurt you. He also brings lots of good intangibles and veteran leadership and all that. You'll be happy with him in a bottom 4 role.

the isles play pretty balanced with their defense. Trotz won’t play the defensman the same TOI every game. He manages guys ice time. So if Greene can still play the PK that’s huge for us. We lost Pelech who was our best shutdown defenseman.

How is Greene with the puck on his stick?

Mediocre, but not bad. He's not a grenade handler and makes good short passes.

I’d like to think that if Greene(with what I Beleive no retention) is bringing back a 2nd then Vatanen retained is being back a first or a second and a better than average prospect.

I can't say I care. Not a chance in hell I'll be rooting or wishing him good luck in the playoffs for the islanders though. I can't stand that fan base. Hope they get swept.

With the rumor also regarding Coleman maybe ending up in Boston, can you imagine having those two on teams we despise?

I don't really care about the Isles that much.

If Greene plays well, fine.

If he plays like garbage, fine.

But if Coleman ends up with the Boston Marchands, he's dead to me.

We should all be quite pleased with fetching a 2nd round pick for Greene. Sure- it being a 2021 2nd means we have to wait a year longer for the prospect we draft to develop. However, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility or even likelihood that the Isles’ 2021 2nd is a much better pick than their 2020 2nd. Who is to say they don’t fall off a cliff next year for whatever reasons or at least miss the playoffs?

Another bonus- if Greene netted a 2nd...just imagine, theoretically, what the Vatanen return should look like.

I don't care about Boston at all. Makes no difference to me. I'd Marchand a shit head? Sure absolutely, I still just don't care.

Greene, will improve your PK. On defense, he is incredibly smart, blocks shots, denies opportunities and generally manages the puck very well. He's a solid second pairing guy (I might even say 1st defensively). When he has the puck in the offensive zone, he is just not very good. He generally doesn't join the rush and his shot is weak. He's not a liability, but plays often just die after he has the puck. Still, for a playoff run, I'm super excited to watch the Isles now.

Of course the day after I say I think Greene might stay he gets traded.

Thanks for everything Andy. I know it became popular among certain posters to shit on you the last year or so, but you were a good soldier through some pretty miserable years and handled it like a true pro.
