It takes about 16kg of plant food to produce 1kg of beef! Not to mention the countless mega-litres of water. Eating animals is a waste of resources which could be feeding humans, and we've only got one Earth and she is dying.
You could feed 20 vegans off of the resources it takes to feed just one meat eater. If everyone was vegan we would literally cease world hunger.
If you consume meat, you are on his side, and he is representing "YOU"! "The sad irony is that the world produces more than enough plant food to meet the needs of all its six billion people. If people used land to grow crops to feed themselves, rather than feeding crops to animals, then there would be enough to provide everyone with the average of 2360 Kcal (calories) needed for good health." Veganism Is the Only Way to End World Hunger
Comfortably Unaware by Dr. Oppenlander provides great insight on how our food choices impact the environment. He explores the numerous routes in which our demand for animal products is leading to the "global depletion" of forests, oceans, waterways, animal species and the atmosphere. Comfortably Unaware also highlights the fact that an astounding amount of food and water are wasted on animal agriculture. At the same time millions of people are starving and the future availability of fresh water is becoming a concern. Reading this book was like taking a breath of fresh air. It was a relief to see someone provide all of the information regarding the food choice-climate change issue. He did not sugarcoat anything. He did not write what you wanted to hear. He wrote what people need to hear and I respect him for that.
And if I'd be more than willing to eat insects?
