Im sure this has been done, but who in your opinion had the greatest most effective slapshot of all-time (not asking who had the hardest).

Ha. Even Gretz said he worked OT to have an average slapper. Most of his goals were not scored that way.I think Wayne Gretzky deserves to be on this list

And Kariya will beat all his records... Gretzky is one of those great enough to be humble person and if he is in the top 10 most slapshot goals in nhl history, that would not surprise anyone.Even Gretz said he worked OT to have an average slapper.

Ovechkin did it more….and better. And that’s not a slight to either Hull.
Lots of great slappers....
First, there are many guys with great slapshots, but who didn't use it a whole lot...like Mark Howe, Esa Tikkanen, and Alexander Mogilny. These guys had other great shots that they used a lot more often. Actually, you could say Lemieux and Bossy too. Great slapshots, but they scored in a variety of ways.
The defensemen: guys like Orr and Lapointe had very effective slapshots. Larson, Doug Wilson, the aforementioned Howe, MacInnis had howitzers in the '80s....many others, like Bourque, Chelios, etc. Right up to current times with Evan Bouchard. Lots of guys in between. There have been progressively more good shooters over the past 50 years.
The classic one-timers of recent years - Ovechkin, Stamkos, Pastrnak, Draisaitl, etc. And of course these guys can do more than one-timers too.
Other forwards through the years....Bobby Hull, Jacques Lemaire, Bill Barber, Kent Nilsson, Brett Hull, Paul Kariya, Stephane Richer, and many players who didn't score as much, like Brian Rolston.
I honestly don't recall Wendel Clark ever scoring on a slapshot. I mean, I'm sure he did once in a blue moon, but...? The wrist-shot was his bread and butter. (Don't recall LeClair doing it often either.)Out of those not mentioned... Wendel Clark, Chris Pronger & John LeClair
That was after, but stillHe didn't use a slap shot, but I am telling you for sure that the fear of his slap shot was definitely going through Hrudey's head during this time
Undoubtedly Clark's wrist shot was the most lethal in his arsenal but although he didn't use it as often, his slap shot was a BOOMER! The shot that knocked Cujo's hemlet off is his most infamous, but throughout years of watching Leafs games from that era, I marveled every time Clark launched off a slapper. Speaking of, LeClair's slap shot might not have been the most accurate but it was an absolute ROCKET! Marvelous!Just among players I've seen enough of to have an opinion:
1) Al MacInnis
2) Alex Ovechkin
3) Brett Hull
4) Wayne Gretzky
5) Jari Kurri
Then, a bunch of guys, like Steve Stamkos, Stephane Richer, Doug Wilson, David Pastrnak, Leon Draisaitl...
Good mention, above, of Esa Tikkanen, who didn't let the slapper go very often, but when he did it was deadly! (And geez, the two-season line of Gretzky, Kurri, Tikkanen had a lot of good slappers on it.)

Doug Wilson definitely should have been an option. I get why Iafrate is up there, but he couldn't hit the net nearly as much as the other guys, regardless of how hard he could shoot, give his spot to Wilson.
