The Brassard trade was interesting because of how intricate it was and how we all kept wearing out the refresh button to see if it was actually complete or not. I also feel like the boards were hilarious when JR got hired because I feel like most of the board absolutely wanted Jason Botterill to be the guy.

Ah yes the Brassard trade where we all (almost) thought we were going to have a second coming of HBK. What a disappointment he was.

I remember looking at the Ottawa roster and thinking JGP may make more sense for both teams. He would've, at least for the Pens with hindsight, but I was all aboard the Brassard train. Hell, even bought an Ottawa Brassard shirt jersey on sale.

I was not. It wasn't like when the Pens added Hagelin, he fit what the Pens needed. Brassard was a top 2 center plopped into the 3C role he was seriously miscast for.

A reaction to a trade makes all the other posts go away of me not liking the player coming in for the position he's not meant for.

Yup. Didn't expect it to go as south as it did, but it looked wonky from the get go to me. Probably my finest piece of armchair GMing.

Since I've got a feeling you're about to mention it, my worst would be seeing Rust as expendable just before he broke out.

Then I said he was untouchable and he went back to normal.

Realising my magic, I've called for Rust to be traded most summers since and behold! Many points. Might as well do it now. Get rid of the bum.

edit: Having looked at my history, I was actually pretty high on the potential of Brassard. I was worried that he wouldn't be getting the right line mates and zone starts and things wouldn't work out, but I assumed they'd figure it out and it could be really great.

Sully wants a defensive shotblocking 3c
JR wants Staal 2.0 or a guy with his physical traits at least
The fans Want a 2c at 3c

Are not all these kind of the same?

Though I'd say wanting a 2c at 3c isn't really accurate when that 2c we're talking about is a 2c lite. One, who can fill in when needed for small time frames.

Staal = high end <<<Not expecting this
Bonino = ideal<<< Would love this
Brassard = not a good fit for the role since he's a offensive 2c , or was. <<<Do not want this

High end would have = Pageau
Ideal would have = Haula or Soderberg
